For years I've been thinking about this project for many years and I am finally starting it- working on performing the Phil Ochs record "Pleasures of the Harbor" in it's entirety. Luckily I've already got the two longest songs on the record in my repertoire, but there are still some tricky ones to go, but always such stunning lyrics. I'm working on it in 15-25 minute chunks as my current life allows, but I will be performing at least some of this project on October 9th at Acoustic Alley in Den Hague, Netherlands.

Anna Coogan, singer and guitarist who serves up a mix of opera, indie rock, and sculpted guitar excursions, brings her The Curse Of Eve 10th Anniversary Tour to Europe. besides proving a live soundtrack for this classic silent movie she will cherry pick stuff from her back catalog as well as perform a handful of choice covers:
I’m pleased to announce tour dates for the upcoming tour of mainland Europe. This will be a celebration of ten years and almost 20 tours (I’ve actually lost count) across Europe. I will be performing a combination of “The Curse of Eve” live silent film sets and songwriter sets. I’ve been working hard at new songs and new-to-me covers, as well as reviving favorites from nearly 20 years of songwriting.

Anna Coogan and Tzar (ichael Stark, Willie B) will revisit their live score for the silent movie The Fall of the House of Usher @ The Cherry Artspace in Ithaca on March 30 and 31:
A timeless re-telling of the Edgar Allen Poe story, “The Fall of the House of Usher” combines the classic 1928 film by Jean Epstein with modern opera, film-noir, and improvisation by musicians Anna Coogan and Tzar. This multi-media presentation will explore the place where film, theater, music, and storytelling collide.

HCTF's best of 2017 (5-1)
HCTF's annual list of the 20 albums that will be in regular rotation for many years to come. The long list of memorable releases boasted about 50 albums. Tough decisions were made narrowing it down. As per usual it's a mixed bag of genres: rock in its various incarnations (garage, hard, post, prog), avant-garde, jazz, pop, folk, funk. Also of note: four live albums made the cut.
Today: countdown from number 5 to 1.
Please keep in mind to shop at your local record store, buy directly from the artist, attend live shows. And shut the fuck up while the band is playing.

Anna Coogan: "Burn For You" video
Watch the new Anna Coogan video for Burn For You, a track from her The Lonely Cry of Space and Time album. The clip was shot and edited by Ben Moss. Annan Cooga explained the story behind the song and the making of the video in an interview with The Big Takeover:
Shortly after I wrote the song, I was jogging and ran past this gaggle of girls — they are coming of age in such a difficult time and the headlines of the day reflect everything they are up against, but they have so much hope and optimism and such big smiles.
The concept for this video, stripping them of their childhood and color, slathering their faces with war paint, and sending them into the unknown, was mostly born right then. When I approached the families with my idea, I was not sure they’d be interested, given I was sending their daughters to war. But they all loved it and got on board right away.”
