Johnny Dowd is working on a new record. He played the brand new song Scarf of Silk, with Michael Edmondson on guitar, during the virtual Boogie Shakedown for the State Theater show in Ithaca on February 28. Changes are that it will end on the new album.

The virtual band reunion was a success - they shared a video of them playing of them playing Hideaway. Johnny Dowd has finished his new record Family Picnic. Available in March 2019, followed by an European tour in April:
Hello everyone.
My new record, “Family Picnic,” is finished. Put a stake in it. Seriously, it’s pretty good. A little more in the roots rock bag than my last few discs. Waltzes, shuffles, etc.
The songs translate well when played live. You’re in for a real treat if you come out to hear Mike and me. Planning on a Euro tour in April (with record release in March).

Johnny Dowd is working on his next record. Too early to tell what it will sound like at this stage, but it will see the return of Kim Sherwood-Caso:
Hello good people. Working on a new record. Pretty early in the process, but so far it’s sounding like a grungy garage rock thing, circa 1965. My buddy Mike Edmondson laid down some nasty guitar tracks, and I tracked some vocals yesterday. Speaking of vocals, I’m going to get my old singing partner Kim Sherwood-Caso on this record. Sort of a return to Wrong Side of Memphis, nice and raw. Anyway, that’s what it’s sounding like at this point. Don’t hold me to it.

Johnny Dowd: new album "Twinkle, Twinkle", tour dates
Johnny Dowd has finished recording an album with public domain tunes. It might be called Twinkle, Twinkle and will be released on his own label Mother Jinx Records:
Howdy all. I have finished tracking my new record, tentatively titled Twinkle, Twinkle. All the songs are in the public domain — “Tom Dooley,” “St. James Infirmary,” “Red River Valley,” “Rock of Ages” . . . you get the picture. It features Anna Coogan and Mike Edmondson on vocals. If you ever wondered what folk music would sound like in an electronic setting, this is it. I’ll release it on my own label, Mother Jinx Records. Not sure when. I’ll keep you posted.
