Radiohead: European tour

Radiohead will hit the road for a European tour in November and December. Drummer Philip Selway:

Last year, we got together to rehearse, just for the hell of it. After a seven year pause, it felt really good to play the songs again and reconnect with a musical identity that has become lodged deep inside all five of us.

It also made us want to play some shows together, so we hope you can make it to one of the upcoming dates. For now, it will just be these ones but who knows where this will all lead.

Radiohead: "OK Outtakes" on archive.org

Radiohead's groundbreaking album OK Computer has been analyzed ad infinitum. It got a rather good deluxe treatment, but there is still more to be found and it can be streamed and downloaded for free from archive.org:

A collection of material from the OK Computer era that wasn't selected for inclusion in OKNOTOK or the White Cassette. This is being released for free, but we encourage you to donate to Extinction Rebellion, which the band themselves have done in the past.

Radiohead opens a public library

The members Radiohead will act as curators for their own public library:

Radiohead.com has always been a) infuriatingly uninformative and b) surprising. The most surprising thing to do next, therefore, is to suddenly become incredibly informative. So that is what we have done.

We present: the RADIOHEAD PUBLIC LIBRARY, an online resource containing everything we have ever done... well, more or less. Videos, music, artwork, websites, merchandise, and assorted ephemera.

Radiohead puts archived "OK Computer" recordings up for sale after hack

After being hacked Radiohead put 18 hours of archived OK Computer recording up for sale on Bandcamp as a respones to the ransom the thief hoped to collect. From The Guardian:

Radiohead have released a vast collection of unreleased tracks made during the sessions for 1997 album OK Computer, after a MiniDisc archive owned by frontman Thom Yorke was hacked last week by an unnamed person, who reportedly asked for a $150,000 ransom to return the recordings.

Radiohead: 2016 World tour dates

Raduohead have announced a World tour that takes from Europe to North America and Japan. After they play a lone festival date in Germany, they will conclude their trip with a 2-night stand in Mexico City. Their ninth studio album is expected to drop any day now.

After the release of the King of Limbs album in 2011 the English band didn't share any new music, except the rejected James Bond theme song Spectre in 2015.

December 27, 2015

Radiohead: Spectre

Radiohead dropped their unused theme song for the latest James Bond movie as a free download on Soundcloud. Was Spectre too melancholic for the powers that be? Pity the unlucky intern who was handed the job to make the call to Yorke, Greenwood and Co.

Last year we were asked to write a theme tune for the Bond movie Spectre. Yes we were. It didn’t work out, but became something of our own, which we love very much. As the year closes we thought you might like to hear it.

Mother Falcon: MF Computer

Mother Falcon
photo: Bryan Rindfus

Austin collective Mother Falcon tried their hand at covering Radiohead's OK Computer from start to finish. Quite a project and it could have turned into rearranging nightmare. They pulled it off, save for the vocals in the challenging Exit Music (For A Film) when they came up short reaching the high notes.

Recorded live without a safety-net MF Computer transports the UK Weltschmerz of the original to the Concert Hall. All done with respect for the originals, the collective alternated between full-on symphonic treatments and simple banjo, guitar or piano accompaniment. Performing the songs was an adventure and, from a musician's point of view, it has a happy ending.

Mother Falcon: MF Computer

MF Computer is a self-released album. Release date: March 18th. Pre-order on iTunes or Bandcamp.

Tracks:
  1. Airbag
  2. Paranoid Android
  3. Subterranean Homesick Alien

  8. Climbing Up The Walls
  9. No Surprises
  10. Lucky / The Tourist

Live dates:
  • 03/12 Austin, TX @ Spider House Ballroom, "UNITY Party" (5.30 pm)
  • 03/13 Austin, TX @ Central Presbyterian Church, "Red Ryder Official Showcase" (11.30 pm)
