Pink Floyd's legendary performance at the Roman Amphitheatre in Pompeii came out in a wealth of formats last year, but not in 4K. A new Blu-ray version rectifies that omission and each frame was fixed by hand after the film was scanned.

Pink Floyd: "Live From the Los Angeles Sports Arena, April 26th, 1975" for Record Store Day
Bootlegger Mike Millard's recording of Pink Floyd in Los Angeles is one of the best sounding audience recordings. Live From the Los Angeles Sports Arena, April 26th, 1975 will get a stand-alone release (4LP, 2CD) for Record Store Day (April 18). The audio was remastered by Steven Wilson.
The concert was previously released as part of the Wish You Were Here 50th Anniversary Boxset. 15400 4LP and 7100 2CD sets worldwide.

Pink Floyd: "One of These Days" from Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII
Watch Pink Floyd playing One of These Days at the Roman Amphitheatre in Pompeii. The film has been restored and will be in theatres from April 24th onwards. The audio in the goods hands of Steven Wilson. It will be available in a wealth of formats on May 2nd:
Coming in May is a restored version of Pink Floyd’s classic film Pink Floyd at Pompeii - MCMLXXII, with audio remixed in stereo, 5.1 and Dolby Atmos. I’m sure everyone knows that Floyd are my favourite band, so will understand how thrilling it is for me to have been given the honour of creating the new mix. Lana Topham’s astounding restoration of the 1972 version of the film has been years in the making and looks like it could have been filmed yesterday, so I wanted to create an audio mix to match, with as much clarity as I could achieve from the multitrack tapes.

Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets: "Echoes Live" for Record Store Day
Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets played the Centennial Hall in Frankfurt, Germany on August 1st, 2024. One of the highlights was Echoes, which will now be released as a one-sided LP for Record Store Day (April 12). It plays inside out, from the center outwards. Steven Wilson mixed the track. 4000 copies worldwide.

Red Dwarf Star: Lady Aurora Borealis
Maserati guitarist Coley Dennis flies solo with his Red Dwarf Star project. He doesn't stray all that much for the psychedelic post-rock that he has been creating with the Athens, GA band. His new single Lady Aurora Borealis - the Espresso Machine Mix to be precise - is a slow moving trip through outer space, with Dennis never revealing if it is a real or imaginary journey. He stacked the guitar parts way up high, with Kellii Scott from Los Angeles alt-rock band Failure playing up a storm on drums. It left him two ways to make himself heard: scream at the top of lungs or going for an almost spoken word part draped over the mayhem. He chose wisely, and picked the latter.
The B-side is a harsh reimagining of the Pink Floyd classic Fearless, turning it into a slowed down metal tune as if the Sisters of Mercy were picking a fight with Black Sabbath. Allen Epley from Kansas City indie rock band The Life and Times stepped up to the mike for this one. He got buried deep in the mix, but that is intentional.

Velocihamster: Money
Lap steel guitar progressive metal band Velocihamster have updated the Pink Floyd classic Money. Band leader Sean Williamson made extensive use his new toy, the Tap-a-Whirl V4 Analog Tap Tempo Tremolo Pedal, to create an extra layer of swirling notes, while the rest of the band stays close to the original. Kudos for sax player Aaron Gardener, who did not copy Dick Parry's solo, but went for a more rockin', in-your-face sound.

Les Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade have added ten more dates to their tour. Dubbed the Hunt For Green October they will resume touring in Oakland on October 11. They will perform two sets, including on ePink Floyd's album Animals in its entirety.

Mercvrial: Brief Algorithms
Mexican post-punk quartet Mercvrial have fully embraced the '80s synths/guitar sound that was all the rage in the UK back then. Add a swinging bass and travel back in time cranking their new album Brief Algorithms, a tasty amalgam of borderline mainstream rock mixed with urgent vocals, telling tales about the struggle to find a significant other, the failed promise of social media as a vessel for progress (Be That Someone), while dancing the night way (Dance In The Dark).
The shared vocals of Ricardo and David give them and edge over the competition, with I'll Get You Home On Time, Hail Of Arrows and a dark reinterpretation of Ultravox's Hiroshima Mon Amour as the cream of the crop. Also: bonus points for pulling off a truly great cover of Pink Floyd's Matilda Mother. They had the guts to add a bit of extra sauce of their own on that one. Having Terry Bickers (House of Love, Levitation) guesting on guitar on five of the tracks pretty much seals the deal: it is a sign of approval from a man who was at the forefront of pushing the sound of the guitar in the '80s. Mercvrial have the melodies and the chops to break out of the barriers from the retro-niche. Wearing your influences on your sleeve is actually a badge of honour when done right.

Pink Floyd: stream 12 early '70s live shows
Twelve vintage Pink Floyd shows have been made available on streaming services. Recorded between 1970 and 1972 these concerts capture them in full flight, before they became a household name after the release of The Dark Side Of The Moon on March 1, 1973. It's a bit odd that they released the Copenhagen show in two parts and that they paired both Lyon 12 June 1971 - Tokyo 16 March 1972 and Leeds 28 Feb 1970 - St. Louis 16 Nov 1971 as combined playlists. The Tokyo show contains an early rendition of DSOTM all the way until a part of Us and Them. The full show has been readily available on YouTube with a complete Us and Them and Any Colour You Like > Brain Damage > Eclipse sequenze.
