Hard rock legends Deep Purple have made posted animated video for Rockin' Pneumonia And The Boogie Woogie Flu, a track from their forthcoming all covers album Turning To Crime, out on November 26. Back in the day the piano took center stage and this track by Huey "Piano" Smith is a highlight from that era. They inserted a bit of the event that inspired their best known song Smoke on the Waterin the clip, with Zappa playing and the "stupid with a flare gun" burning down the casino in Montreux.

Guitarist Steve Morse stays close to Peter Green (his photo pops up for a second in the clip), before launching in a classic solo to bring the song home.

Deep Purple have finished recording their first-ever all covers album, Turning To Crime, that will be in the shops on November 26. When boredom hit them during the lockdown they decided to use the internet technology to play together and swap files, and dig into the music they grew up with, not playing them as faithfull renditions, but making them Purple songs that happened to be written by other bands.
The album first single, a raucous version of the Love classic 7 And 7 Is, is a good start for sure. It will be available in a shitload of formats and is avaibable for preorder here.
Ian Gillan is still singing at 75 The Deep Purple frontman's voice has dropped a register, but he still has the power. The band's latest alnum Whoosh got rave reviews, even from magazines who have been snapping at their heels for decades. He sat down for a nice chat with The Guardian. His post-show routine is quite mellow nowadays:
Bed and a book. I realised some years ago I had to radically change my lifestyle, because you can’t sustain it as you get older. When they stopped smoking in bars, that’s what did it for me, because I enjoyed a cigarette with my drink, just calming down and having a chat after the show with the guys. And then suddenly you couldn’t smoke, and I thought, ‘Good time to bin it, really.’ So I stopped going to the pub and I stopped drinking after the shows. Now I carry a kettle, a little mobile kettle, and I come back and have a cup of tea.”

An objet d’art called Musicians’ Bench was spotted in Russian city of Pskov. Sharp eyes quickly recognized that music notation on the bench is not random, but represents the opening chords of nothing else but Smoke on the Water. The bench is installed in a recently reconstructed Square of the Arts and is the work of local artist Yevgeny Vagin.

Deep Purple have posted a lyric video for Time For Bedlam, a track from their upcoming new studio album inFinite (out on April 7, 2017). A limited edition EP for “Time For Bedlam”, with non-album songs and unreleased recordings will hit the shops on February 3rd.
The Long Goodbye Tour kicks off in Austria in May and will keep them on the road for most of the year in Europe.
Singer, bassist, and songwriter Glenn Hughes will be on tour in Europe throughout September and October. Expect an evening with choice cuts from his days with Deep Purple, Black Country Communion and the short lived power trio California Breed.
