The title is about my mother's sacrifice, how she drove up and down the East Coast for years, taking care of business in New Hampshire, her parents in Florida, her kids and grandkids in between, how because of her love for me and my children, my whole family ended up in North Carolina, all five of us siblings, and then our partners, and our own kids.

Patrick Santos: crowdfunding campaign for "If classical had modern drums: The Album"

Canadian drummer Patrick Santos has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to cover the costs of recording and releasing If classical had modern drums: The Album:

Although most classical music is in the public domain, the recordings of these classical pieces are copyrighted. To get around this, I would have to get orchestral recordings of the classical pieces solely for my use in which I'd own the rights to.. and thats exactly what I'm going to do!

Fred Händl: crowdfunding campaign for new album "Tovarishchi"

Dutch pianist Fred Händl has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to cover the costs for his new album, Tovarishchi:

It's been a long way coming. Many know Fred Händl from his unique renditions on solo piano of the works of Frank Zappa. He's graced many a venue with his music and presence over the past ten years. And yet, no matter how beautiful and skillfully executed, someone else's music will always remain what it is: someone else's music. That's why Fred's wish to record his own music grew stronger over time. He has wanted to record this album for a long time, but never got to it. That's because it is a big thing to record your own music. Finalizing so many ideas in your head and your heart, finding the right people to work with, finding the guts to really do this and put your own work out there, and - not unimportant - have the funding to make it all happen.

Karl Blau: crowdfunding campaign for new album

Indie musician Karl Blau has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to cover the costs for his new album. He will be backed by the musicians who played on his Introducing album and had his back on stage: Eli Moore (bass, guitar), Steve Moore (keyboards, trombone) Jon Hyde (pedal steel, guitar), Aaron Otheim (synths, keyboards) and Andrew Dorset (drums).

I’m basically starting a pre-order here to raise the money to not only press vinyl and cassettes manufacturing but also to pay for the studio, the musicians and mastering as well as the accommodations and provisions for the band. Thrilled to say right off the bat that I have nearly the same band poised for this record as we had for Introducing, my most popular release to date. This is a pre-sale and I'll be printing only a small number of records and cassettes for this first pressing. This is gonna be a very special release, the vinyl will be colorful and the tapes will be golden or purple. Chances are the 2nd pressing of this record will not be done independently and not for a while later if at all.

Country noir musician Jim White has launched a crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo to cover the costs for his new album Misfit Jubliee. He really wants to avoid working at Wal Mart to make some extra cash. so he is offering a wide variety of "rewards".

Hello fans, old friends, new newcomers, various stalkers, beloved debt collectors, legions of vectoring sycophants, etc.

Welcome to my latest crowdfunding extravaganza. It’s Lets Make A Deal time over here in Jim White Weirdoville. So belly up to the virtual bar and let’s do a little horse trading. This go-round I got a stellar batch of off-the wall, one-of-a-kind goods to throw your way in exchange for some much needed contributions to the overall recording fund. Albums as exotically complicated as mine ain’t cheap to make—hell, the mix alone on this thing ran me five grand.

Holly Bowling: raising funds for new album "Seeking All That's Still Unsung"

Piano player Holly Bowling has launched crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to cover the costs of recording their new album Seeking All That's Still Unsung, an instrumental piano record of Grateful Dead music.

I've released several other solo records with the direct support of fans and the music community in the past and I love the freedom that's given me to make the records I want to make as an independent artist. My favorite part of the crowdfunding process is the personal connection it's given me to every person who helped me make the records. Crowdfunding allows this to be a team effort, with you guys directly involved in the release of this album, while also allowing you guys access to some unique perks! I'm excited to do it again.

The Presidents Of The United States Of America: raising funds for vinyl release of self-titled debut album

Energetic rock trio The Presidents of the United States of America are no longer a working band, but they won't miss the opportunity to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their self-titled album. They have launches a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for a long overdue vinyl release (fact check: it was released on vinyl in Europe 1995 and by a label in Spain as well). Their home market had to make due with CD's and cassettes.

We are post-rock-band. While we remain friends and enjoy frequent lunches together, we have no label, no management, no infrastructure, no "team". That's OK though! We don't need any of that stuff!*** Thanks to INTERNET and whatnot the music is out there for anyone who wants to hear it (that's my vague understanding of INTERNET.)

Mutts: raising funds for their new album "Stuck Together"

Chicago rock trio Mutts have launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.com to cover the costs for their new full-length Stuck Together. They are aiming to raise $16,667:

The new album, Stuck Together, is the best thing we've done. The songs are fueled by the most turbulent 5-year period in my life. Many tears, a lot of joy, heaps of disappointment, tons of hard work, and a lot of milestones and memories went into this record. And it was all captured for posterity by Rick Fritz from Audiotree, in bad ass sounding high fidelity.

Big Lazy: crowdfunding campaign for sixth album

NYC based gritty jazz trio Big Lazy have launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to cover the costs for their sixth album, the long overdue follow-up of Don't Cross Myrtle.

Big Lazy calling. Thanks for being here. If you took part in our 2014 Kickstarter campaign we appreciate your support. If you are a newcomer thanks for taking the time to check out our story. We all hear talk about the death of the music industry. The thing is, Big Lazy has thrived on the outskirts of the music business. Since 1990 we’ve produced and promoted our own product and shows. It’s a non-stop grind, and I love it. Today we are asking for your support as we embark on Big Lazy’s sixth album.

They are aiming to raise $26,000. Right now they are at $8,774, with 18 days to go.

Spottiswoode & His Enemies: raising funds for new album "Lost In The City"

English/American septet Spottiswoode & His Enemies have launched crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to cover the costs of recording their new album Lost In The City. They are aiming to raise £ 15,000 ($21,000). Singer Jonathan Spottiswoode explains:

LOST IN THE CITY is our most ambitious song cycle to date. An emotional sucker punch. Tales of love and death in the Big Apple. Celebrating two decades together as a band, the music reflects the raw energy and sophistication of the city we’ve called home; a giddy brew of balladry, jazz, rock, blues, minimalism, you name it. It’s poignant for me since I’ve recently moved back to London where I’m raising my baby daughter. Some of the songs almost sound like a farewell.
