An expanded version of the 1971 film Jimi Plays Berkeley will be shown at The Regent Theatre in Arlington on October 22. It features extra 15 minutes of previously unseen footage from the shows at the Berkeley Community Theatre on May 30, 1970, showing bits the Jimi Hendrix Experience performing Voodoo Child (Slight Return), Machine Gun and Hear My Train A Comin'.
At long last the first show will be released in full (well, almost, because Foxy Lady is missing) on October 16 on CD and 2LP. Experience Hendrix plays it down by naming it "presented in its original chronological order. Magic Boy: The Jimi Hendrix Experience Live At Berkeley (First Show) is the long overdue companion piece for the Jimi Plays Berkeley DVD and the Live At Berkeley album (which only covered the second show). Just release all of it, including the missing track and the recently added footage in a nice box set.
