Not many bands can sound muddy, lo-fi and crystal clear simultaneously, but these guys are on top of things to keep it together and bring it home without dropping the ball.
Songs About Nothing covers their pet peeves such as bad luck (Allergic Reaction), commitment of the lack thereof (Ball and Chain), falling in love and paying no heed to the warning signs with disastrous results (Fire) and howling at injustice in general. It's a record that should be played really fucking loud and on repeat. Singing along is optional, but feel free to play air guitar, bass or drums.

York rock trio Sewage Farm hit the ground running last year with their debut album Cloudy. They stuck to their formula for Harmony Beach, their new full-length. Once again they mix fuzz driven power pop, psychedelica and garage for a collection of upbeat tunes about bleak themes. Whether they sing about being lonely (Alien Alone) or try impress a girl (Underneath Your Window) the band always find a way to wrap the pain in a pleasing melody.
Harmony Beach is a study in contrasts, a cheerful collection of songs and it's this inner tension that makes it a remarkable record. Think Nirvana meets The Jam (note the nod to the guitar part of The Eton Rifles in My Last Hour), under the tutelage of Big Star and Bob Mould.

Sam Forrest (Nine Black Alps) and Danny Trew Barton (White Firs) joined forces with drummer Danny Hirst to form Sewage Farm, a power trio with a penchant for garage rock, psychedelic pop, and grunge. While their favorite bands are all Amercian (Big Star, Teenage Fanclub, Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth and Pavement) their sound is quite definitely English, especially the melodies, with plenty of tension and release.
Their debut album Cloudy is a rough-around-the-edges lo-fi affair, knee-deep in smart hooks and riffs. Pop it in the player for a Long Drive, take a swim in the Darkest Ocean and changes are a foul mood will be replaced by a more cheerful outlook on life, a Self-Fulfilling Prophecy that should propel this band to bigger venues that hosts rock shows for a target group that likes to drink beer and play air guitar, while swaying gently to the back beat.
