Patti Smith: European tour dates

Patti Smith will play a bunch of shows in Europe next year. There is a gap between the shows in Belgium and Ireland, so don't be surprised about an announcement of a bunch of UK dates in the near future.

Patti Smith: "Horses" anniversary tour

Patti Smith will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Horses by playing the album in full. Guitarist Lenny Kaye and drummer Jay Dee Daugherty, who played on the album, are part of the band. The tour swings through Europe in October, before heading back to the States in November.

Patti Smith: "Curated By Record Store Day" for Record Store Day

A new Patti Smith compilation album, featuring favourite tracks from 1974–1996 when she was signed to Arista, will be released on Record Store Day (April 23). The track listing, supposedly chosen by the staff of record stores, is rather predictable, but the cover art is great. Curated By Record Store Day is a 2LP on black vinyl. 5050 copies worldwide.

Patti Smith: co-writting the screenplay of "Just Kids"

The New York Times reports about the TV adaptation of Patti Smith's memoir Just Kids:

Showtime announced Tuesday that it had acquired the rights to Patti Smith’s memoir, “Just Kids” and would adapt it into a limited TV series. The book, which won the 2010 National Book Award for Nonfiction, focused largely on Ms. Smith and her relationship with the photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. (...)

The series will be co-written and produced by John Logan, the playwright and executive producer of Showtime’s “Penny Dreadful.” Ms. Smith will be the other writer.
