Johnny Marr has shared Ophelia, another single from his forthcoming new album The Age Of Everything. It is a fine piece of jangling pop goodness, and quite a bit of echo on the vocals, urging the woman in question to let go for a bit and don't be so damn serious all of the time.

Buying one his guitars at a Christie's auction n London won't turn the buyer into Johnny Marr, but it will be something to brag about for sure. From The Guardian:
Johnny Marr is preparing to auction off about 80 of his guitars, including the Rickenbacker heard on This Charming Man.
Marr has partnered with Christie’s for the auction, which will take place on 17 September in London, with the collection – including amps and other equipment – available for the public to view in London and New York prior to the sale.
The star lots include a 1982 Rickenbacker 330 Jetglo, whose top estimate price of £80,000 reflects its indie music pedigree: as well as This Charming Man, it can be heard on What Difference Does It Make?, Still Ill, and Accept Yourself, and was also lent out to Noel Gallagher: it appears on the cover of Oasis’s debut single Supersonic. (It wasn’t used for the distinctive opening riff of This Charming Man, though, which was played on a 1950s Telecaster.)
Few guitarists are as recognizable after hearing a single chord as Johnny Marr. His fifth studio album The Age Of Everything will be released on October 2. Lead single Spin finds him in contemplative mood, trying to make sense of all the thoughts that are clamouring for his attention; "Come around now see what's doing // Stick around now see what we done // Getting lost in the thoughts racing from behind // There's too much coming and too much time".
Johnny Marr's performance @ the Hammersmith Apollo in London on April 12, 2024 was released the orange vinyl Look Out Live! 2LP for Record Store Day this year. Apparently the label failed to unload the 2000 copies, because it will hit the shops again on September 19, along side a version on black vinyl, and as a 2CD. The latter contains the four tracks that were left of the 2LP: The Passenger, New Town Velocity, Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before and Bigmouth Strikes Again.
Guitar maestro Johnny Marr will be on tour in Europe in October and November, playing shows in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Austria, Switzerland and Italy.

Guitar maestro Johnny Marr performs @ Saltwater Festival Westport in Westport House, Mayo in Ireland on May 29. It is the only conformed show for this year so far. There are rumours about a club tour in the Fall.
Former The The band mates Johnny Marr and Matt Johnson reunited briefly during a show at the Roundhouse in London on November. They recorded their cover of the Lovin' Spoonful classic Summer In The City during soundcheck. And yes, there is a signature, albeit far too brief, Marr solo near the end of the track.

Europe:Guitarist Johnny Marr has announced the release of his first album a solo artist on on February 25, 2013. The Messenger was recorded in Manchester and Berlin. Besides playing guitar, he will also handle he vocals. Marr in Uncut:
It is late in the day to be making my debut (...) I didn't want to be in someone else's band at this point. In the past I might have been reluctant to stand up front, and I've been lucky enough to be in bands with great singers, so it wasn't necessary. But this is my band now, and the frontman in my band has to play guitar. I do both.
All eight albums by UK legends The Smiths get the remaster/deluxe treatment in a lavish box set. The big one contains all albums on CD and vinyl as well as all 25 singles, a DVD with the videos and various reproduced paraphernalia for fans with deep pockets. Also avilabel are a slimmed down collection with just all the albums on CD or vinyl. Release date: October 3rd.
Guitarist Johnny Marr handled the mastering with Frank Arkwright, using the original tapes. Apparently singer Morrisey had nothing to do with it.
