Geiger von Müller: Neocubist Blues

Most of the tracks on London based acoustic slide guitarist Geiger von Müller's new album Neocubist Blues are short, really short, as if he wanted to show that you can stumble upon an idea and you have to push "record" pretty damn quickly before it's gone again. There are three more parts of his long running Toys In Ghettos excursions and Origins has reached its sixth episode. The blues is all over this collection, with forays into folk, plus an unexpected tribute to Beethoven's Für Elise in Europa.

When he does stretches out, like he does with the rumbling New Revisit and percussion driven Heavy Lite Darkness, Von Müller tests the boundaries of his self-inflicted limitations: it's just him, a guitar and a slide, but can he conjure up whole sun-beaten worlds, places where loners feel comfortable. This is music with teeth and thorns, with a few smooth patches thrown in to offer some respite.

Geiger von Müller: Alien Fig Yogurt Incident

London based acoustic slide guitarist Geiger von Müller renamed one of the tracks of his Slide Sonatas II. album. Alien Fig Yogurt Incident sounds far more interesting than Blue Moon Frequency #4 and it is more in sync with the main theme of the album, contemplating the possibilities of other life forms in the universe. The video was directed by Janka Bacsi.

London based acoustic slide guitarist Geiger von Müller takes the listener on a trip to outer space on his new album Slide Sonatas II.. He takes it slow, conjuring images of asteroids passing by as tumbleweeds in a Western movie. His blues-based instrumentals honour the less-is-more approach of a musician who is set on discovering limitless possibilities within the space of a couple of choice notes.

Von Müller is his own side-man, playing both lead and rhythm. Sci-fi meets roots music in tracks like Beta-1 Moon Base and the grumbling Another Revisit. Space Shuttle blasts off with a short burst of licks, and single notes, mimicking lift-off, before giving way to a bluesy melody with enough twang for a full country album. Wrapping up with the Muddy Waters inspired Mudslide, he proofs that the blues is alive and well on Earth and ready to travel far beyond its boundaries.

London based acoustic slide guitarist Geiger von Müller is an explorer within his self-imposed boundaries on his new album Slide Sonatas I., a collection of subtle originals and a surprise reinvention of Chuck Berry's No Particular Place To Go (No Pp2 Go).

While most Sci-Fi inspired music goes for an all out extravagant sound Von Müller uses accessible patterns that unfold gradually. Each note has an important role as he feels his way through the tracks. He is a musician's musician, quite content to fly under the radar, while he reaches for the heavens. It would be nice if NASA would use Pining Over The Moon somewhere along the way in the program to put people on the face of Earth's companion again.

Geiger von Müller: Space Digger #1

London based acoustic slide guitarist Geiger von Müller has released the gentle Space Digger #1, a study in rhythm and feel, straddling the fence between jazz and Americana. His signature touch is all over this one, combined with his unrelenting fascination for space travel. Red Ey built the Lego parts used in the video that was directed by A. Riegler. The track serves as taste for his upcoming new album Slide Sonatas I.

Xqui + Geiger von Müller + Pelso: Aurora

Noise artist Xqui, experimental guitarist Geiger von Müller and producer Pelso joined forces for a radical "seagull mix" of Aurora, a track from Xqui's latest album Twenties. The accompanying video has plenty of mirrored images, a trick that was all the rage in the seventies.

The London based acoustic slide guitarist " is a sonic explorer, stretching his notes and sometimes bending his strings until they almost break. He uses resonance as a means of creating feedback and he can sound like a one-man guitar army, playing lead and rhythm simultaneously". The song is dedicated to Rudolf Vrba and Alfréd Wetzler, who managed to escape from Auschwitz and tell the world about the atrocities and mass-murder.

London based acoustic slide guitarist Geiger von Müller has made an album that could be uses for a Western where people are minding their own business until aliens show up, hovering over the plains in towering spaceships. Ruby Red Run! is sparse and lo-fi, a fine example of blues-tinged roots music meeting jazz, recorded on a shoestring budget.

Von Müller is a sonic explorer, stretching his notes and sometimes bending his strings until they almost break. He uses resonance as a means of creating feedback and he can sound like a one-man guitar army, playing lead and rhythm simultaneously.
