Triggerfinger: Come Clean

Belgian rockers Triggerfinger had to pick themselves up, after long time bass player Paul Van Bruystegem called it quits in 2023 (he died in 2025). Singer and guitarist Ruben Block and drummer Mario Goossens stuck to what they now best when they entered the studio: steamy blues rock with a chugging backbeat.

The new single Come Clean comes up short a bit, the swagger and swing of their former bandmate is missing, but since they thrive on stage the live version will surely have more punch. The video was shot by Charlie De Keersmaecker in downtown Los Angeles.

Mr. Paul is calling it quits after being the bass player for Belgian powertrio Triggerfinger for 20 years. A mesage from the band's website:

After 20 years of guarding the deepest rumble of the band, recording multiple albums, widespread tours ranging from Norway to South-Africa, from Zichem to Tokyo, from Canada to Los Angeles, Monsieur Paul made the difficult decision to take a different path.

Time for change, for new adventures and challenges.

We all cherish being part of this extraordinary story, playing, recording and traveling. Discussing, ranting and laughing over gallons of coffee while trying to make sense of the (music)world around us and to preserve and expand the core idea of what our band is all about.

Ruben Block: That's Just The Way

Ruben Block, singer and guitarist with Belgian power trio Triggerfinger, has released That's Just The Way, another single form his his solo album Looking To Glide, out on September 30 via Pias (coloured and black vinyl, CD, digital). Using the upper echolons of his vocal range, he builds an atmospheric, come hither rocker with a tugging backbeat.

Ruben Block, singer and guitarist with Belgian power trio Triggerfinger, will release his solo album Looking To Glide on September 30 via Pias (coloured and black vinyl, CD, digital). The tracks were recorded in Antwerp and Santa Monica, California, with American musician and record producer Mitchell Froom acting as his partner in crime. It was a prolonged and cumbersome process for obvious reasons. Awake, one of the album singles, "is a slow burner, a mix of blues and a bit of Pixies-inspired guitar".
