HCTF's annual list of the 20 albums that will be in regular rotation for many years to come. The long list of memorable releases boasted about 50 albums. Tough decisions were made narrowing it down. As per usual it's a mixed bag of genres: rock in its various incarnations (garage, hard, post, prog), avant-garde, jazz, pop, folk, funk. Also of note: four live albums made the cut.

Just before they release will their new album Back With A Bang The Dirty Denims' bass player Ashley Seleski has announced that she will be leaving the band after the current tour is finished. From the band's Facebook:
To me, being part of a band means “all or nothing”, you either live for it, or you let it go. Although I will definitely miss Jeroen, Mirjam and Jordi, all the great people who always came to support our shows and all the fun we had while touring, I came to the conclusion that I was starting to fly on autopilot. The energy I used to get from playing gigs is just not there anymore.
When Dutch hardrockers The Dirty Denims released their EP Back With A Bang - part 1 earlier this year, they promised that there would be a Part 2 in October. They lied. Well, sort of. They have decided to skip the Part 2 release and will put out a full album instead. The new songs have fun written all over them, with quite of hints to heroes throw. Note The Knack's My Sharona guitar lick in the escapist anthem Virtual Reality or the ZZ Top meets AC/DC rifferama in One Way Ticket (the hell outta here). Long for the Ramones? Bad Reputation takes care of that.
The Dirty Denims call themselves a happy hardrock band. And that's what they are: loud, fun and loaded with great hooks and attitude. Loud Stuff that will turn their live audience into a headbanging, air guitar playing friendly mob. Back With A Bang won't turn R&B and hip-hop fans into rawkers instantly, but it might make them rethink their taste in music. Turn it up, all the way to eleven. We Want More indeed.

Dutch hardrockers The Dirty Denims performed a live session for online platform Frequenzy.nl, playing three songs from their Back With A Bang - part 1 EP. Basic boogie goodness that should be played loud.
Dutch happy hardrockers The Dirty Denims keep it simple on their new no-frills EP Back With A Bang - part 1. The quartet likes to boogie like AC/DC did when Bon Scott was still alive. Keywords: fun, energy and having a good time. Lead singer Mirjam Sieben has enough power to reach the back rows of a festival crowd (or rattle the windows of a bar treating their clientele to a set of rawk).
Pop this in the player when you need some lowdown and dirty rock 'n'roll: plenty of catchy riffs, ooh-ooh's and yeah-yeah's. Back With A Bang - part 1 is a less is more EP that is catchy as Hell. Recommended if you like ZZ Top and Joan Jett.
Based in Eindhoven, the current rock capital of The Netherlands, The Dirty Denims describes themselves as happy hardrock, playing loud and fast songs that spell FUN in capital letters. Their new EP Wanna Be Famous is fifteen minutes of vintage sounding garage rock. The Donnas and The Ramones are obviously a big influence - they say so themselves, but they also touch base with heavy acts with a weak spot for boogie (AC/DC, Bachman Turner Overdrive).
In-your-face, aiming for your guts, The Dirty Denims are the perfect antidote for these dark economic days. Play really fucking loud.
