Danish-Dutch folk trio Subterranean Street Society will release their new album Saudade on February 11, 2022. Singer and guitarist Louis Puggaard-Müller used the works of artist like Nick Cave and Bob Dylan for a bunch of storytelling songs. Lead single One And A Half Men Tent is about branching out, because that piece of trusty camping gear is just not big enough to hold two people.

Subterranean Street Society have shared a single edit from Weapons Of Mass Destruction, a track from their Twelve Steps album. It follows The 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) that got the father of singer and guitarist Louis Puggaard-Müller sober after falling down hard : "The songs (...) do not preach, but observe and support. It is an album about despair, setbacks, reconciliation and hope, steeped in blues and folk, switching from elecrric to acoustic with an intensity that can be overwhelming at times. Subterranean Street Society: Twelve Steps

Amsterdam based Danish folk singer and guitarist Louis Puggaard-Müller was a first-hand witness for his father's steady decline into full-on alcoholism. It nearly killed him, but he got sober thanks to The 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). The process became the source for the new album by his band Subterranean Street Society, a record with a song for each step. All and all it took them three years to complete.

The songs on Twelve Steps do not preach, but observe and support. It is an album about despair, setbacks, reconciliation and hope, steeped in blues and folk, switching from elecrric to acoustic with an intensity that can be overwhelming at times. Puggaard-Müller made this album for himself and his father, but its universal message should resonate with anyone who has been confronted with addiction. Plus it is a joy to listen to a band that is on firing on all cylinders.

Subterranean Street Society: Wake Me Up Before I Go To Sleep

Subterranean Street Society have posted a live video of them performing Wake Me Up Before I Go To Sleep, the new single from their forthcomng album Twelve Steps, a concept album about singer and guitarist Louis Puggaard-Müller's father descent into alcoholism. The song descrbes Step 1 from the program. It's a rambling rocker and a cry for help. They filmed the clip @ Earth Works in Amsterdam.

The studio version is now avilable on all the usual digital outlets. Twelve Steps will be released on November 6.

Subterranean Street Society: live stream concert

Subterranean Street Society, the folk project led by Amsterdam based Danish singer-songwriter Louis Puggaard-Müller, will be doing a full band live stream concert on Friday 8th May. They will be broadcasting on the 'net from the empty theatre De KOM in Nieuwegein at 8 PM (Amsterdam time).

A real show isn't anything without interaction so we've tried to come up with the next best thing. During the livestream we will have a phone-number on screen via which you can reach us. This will be an opportunity to talk to you guys directly and take any questions you might have. We will have an operator on stand-by. For our international fans you also call via Whatsapp or Telegram. Obviously we will take some calls live into the stream!

To top it all off we've been working on new material and will present a brand new song that we wrote apart from each other in quarantaine.

Subterranean Street Society: Russian Roulette

Indie folk singer and guitarist Louis Puggaard-Müller has planned to take his Subterranean Street Society project on the road in May to promote the release Twelve Steps, a concept album about his father descent into alcoholism. Obviously this no longer an option and it's been pushed back to November. A new single from the album, Russian Roulette, covers Step 5 from the program. It is neo-psych song with ample use of echo, on top of a jagged rhythm.

Subterranean Street Society: So Sorry

Indie folk singer Louis Puggaard-Müller has made a video for So Sorry, a track from his forthcoming Subterranean Street Society concept album Twelve Steps, inspired by the Alcoholics Anonymous “big book”. His father gradually came under the spell of addiction and he had a front row seat, watching his decline. The songs refers to Step 8 of the program: "Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all".

Folk artist Louis Puggaard-Müller sings about staying in control on his new single he Road Stays Mine with Subterranean Street Society project. It's a track from the forthcoming new full-length Twelve steps, "a concept album centered around the alcoholic anonymous big book", inspired by his father's gradually descent as the liquor took over his life. Raising his voice at the appropriate moments Puggaard-Müller makes a stand, claiming his new found independence.

Watch Amsterdam based Danish singer-songwriter Louis Puggaard-Müller - perform his Leftover Wine EP in full with Subterranean Street Society project @ Moon Music Studios in Roermond.

All that was needed were two acoustic guitars, a harmonica, some decent recording gear and a film crew who know their stuff to capture this intimate and compelling performance. Basically it's three songs linked into one long storytelling piece. It's available on cassette.

Amsterdam based Danish singer-songwriter Louis Puggaard-Müller - stage name Subterranean Street Society is working on a new album. He started out as a busker playing his own stuff and released the rather good album I’ll Leave Me Before You Do in 2016.

He surrounded himself with like-minded musicians for his new one. Watch them perform So Sorry, recorded live @ Moon Music Studio’s in Roermond. It's a bluesy stomper about regret with instant singalong appeal.

Subterranean Street Society: I’ll Leave Me Before You Do

Buskers as a breed tend to bore uncaring passers-by with god awful renditions of Wish You Were Here, House of the Rising Sun or even the godawful Hotel California. Amsterdam based Danish singer-songwriter Louis Puggaard-Müller, who goes by the stage name Subterranean Street Society, is one those rare street musicians playing his own originals. On his new album I’ll Leave Me Before You Do ten of his songs get the full treatment.

I’ll Leave Me Before You Do isn't a concept album as such, but love is the recurrent theme through all of his songs, more specifically relationships that are turning sour. His girlfriend keeps walking out on him. Bittersweet memories are conjured up in B-Sides, no matter that he urged her to Stay beforehand. He can get loud and angry as well, banging the shit out of a resonator guitar during Pretty Baby.
