The Polish Primuz Chamber Orchestra worked their magic on Steven Wilson's Staircase. Wojciech Lemański wrote the string arrangement. Conductor Łukasz Błaszczyk led the ensemble at a recording session in September 2024. They used the original tracks from Steven Wilson's The Harmony Codex album. Previously the orchestra teamed up with jazz-fusion rock trio The Aristocrats, for an album in 2022.

The Aristocrats With Primuz Chamber Orchestra: "Stupid 7" video
Watch the new video by The Aristocrats and the Primuz Chamber Orchestra for Stupid 7, a track from their new album: "There are no signs of one of the parties trying to get the upper hand. It is a full-on true (long-distance) collaboration. The Aristocrats With Primuz Chamber Orchestra sounds like it was recorded by all parties in the same room. Long-time followers of the band will find that this not just a fresh coat of paint for the material, but an expansion and reinvention of the music that will change listening to the originals forever".

The Aristocrats: The Aristocrats With Primuz Chamber Orchestra
Orchestra-enhanced versions of rock and other forms of popular versions are hit and miss. There is the truly awful - The Andrew Oldham Orchestra with The Rolling Stones Songbook, the close but no cigar - Deep Purple's - Concerto For Group And Orchestra, and the pretty good - Metallica w/ The San Francisco Symphony Orchestra's – S&M (but avoid the lame and superfluous S&M2). But now there is a new kid in town that gets it right all the way through: The Aristocrats With Primuz Chamber Orchestra.
The Aristocrats might well the world's finest hard-hitting prog jazz fusion trio right now, with an open ear and mind plus a wicked sense of humour. When they ran across a video of the Polish Primuz Chamber Orchestra performing Culture Clash they were pleasantly surprised. They got in touch with composer/arranger Wojtek Lemański and one thing let to another. They send over nine remixed version from their back catalog and Lemański worked his magic with the string arrangments. Conductor Łukasz Błaszczyk ran a tight ship, but he also gave some leeway to the orchestra when the opportunity to do so arose.

The Aristocrats: new album "The Aristocrats With Primuz Chamber Orchestra"
Nine tracks from fusion rock trio The Aristocrats have been giving an extra coat of paint by the Primuz Chamber Orchestra. Wojtek Lemański took care of the string arrangements. The result can be heard on the new album The Aristocrats With Primuz Chamber Orchestra, due for release on June 3rd (CD, digital) and July 1st (vinyl).
This project began when we randomly stumbled upon a YouTube video of Primuz Chamber Orchestra performing one of our songs, as reimagined by composer/arranger Wojtek Lemański. Their flawless execution of a highly challenging arrangement (which was startlingly inventive and yet remained entirely faithful to the spirit of the original composition!) inspired us to reach out and propose a collaboration.Live dates:
The process ultimately led to this album, which comprises nine trio performances taken from our previous studio albums, remixed by Forrester Savell and transformed by the orchestra’s rendition of Wojtek’s string arrangements. This approach enabled Wojtek to create orchestrations which treated many of the spontaneous, improvised elements from our original “band in a room” takes as if they had been part of the actual compositions... yielding some unique results!
We’re truly proud of the way this project turned out... and we’re profoundly grateful that serendipity somehow brought us all together for this collaboration. Enjoy!
