Thought You Were Dead, a previously unreleased song on the B-side on the Record Store Day exclusive Morrissey 7" single Lover-To-Be (already available on the deluxe version of the Low in High School album), makes it worth tracking down. It will be released on clear red vinyl.

Morrissey has issued a statement through his fan site True to You telling his followers that the shows at the Hammersmith in London on Sunday 20th and Monday 21st September might be his final UK shows. He was dropped by Harvest Records last year and new UK record deal has eluded his so far:
There is absolutely no way that we can generate any interest from record labels in the United Kingdom, therefore the imminent two nights at Hammersmith are likely to be our final ever UK shows. We are obsessively grateful for all interest and loyalty from our audience ... throughout 28 years ... but without new releases, there is no point in any additional touring. Thank you for so many absolutely incredible times. The pleasure and privilege is mine ...
Morrissey first release as a solo artist was the Suedehead single in February 1988.
All eight albums by UK legends The Smiths get the remaster/deluxe treatment in a lavish box set. The big one contains all albums on CD and vinyl as well as all 25 singles, a DVD with the videos and various reproduced paraphernalia for fans with deep pockets. Also avilabel are a slimmed down collection with just all the albums on CD or vinyl. Release date: October 3rd.
Guitarist Johnny Marr handled the mastering with Frank Arkwright, using the original tapes. Apparently singer Morrisey had nothing to do with it.

Morrissey is the undisputed champion of saying something nasty in a soft voice. His new album Years of Refusal suffers from his youngish backing band, who all go "look, mum, I am playing with Moz and you said that there was no future in music and I should get a real job". They are too loud and ruin the nuances on the bulk of the tracks. Still, Morrissey puts up a fight and you can hear him despite all the mayhem. But it would have hurt if had slammed the band members heads together and told them a few thing of the art of leaning back.
They can do it on some tracks - the Spanish flavored When Last I Spoke to Carol, the popyy tune I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris, and the best track It’s Not Your Birthday Anymore, in which Moz explains that "there is no need to be kind to you" and rages about the "syrupee things that we said". No, he doesn't get softer as he gets older. And nobody want hims to.
