Freyr: Castle in the Sky

Swedish/Icelandic musician Freyr has a knack for writing love songs that dig deep. His single Castle in the Sky is a bashful track about growing up, combining elements of folk and soft-spoken indie. He makes a case for holding each other tight, now that maturity has come knocking on the door, with all the hassles that come with it.

He stresses the importance to saviour the moment and enjoy the natural high of being in love on a planet that should be cherished and taken proper care of.

Freyr: Abandoned Places

Swedish/Icelandic musician Freyr captures the push-and-pull of where to go next in a relationship - and whether they should take it to the next level - on his new single Abandoned Places. Making possibly life changing decisions is never easy and it is no wonder that he remains undediced throughout the track. It is a gentle folk pop song that might offer some sort of solace to those are sharing this kind of predicament.

Freyr: Nicotine Bunker

After releasing the memorable EP I'm Sorry and a couple of singles Swedish/Icelandic musician Freyr Flodgren felt confident enough to record a full album, Nicotine Bunker. Dreamy, acoustic songs a la Nick Drake (Permission to Lose), piano-driven triphop (Avalon) and experimental Americana of the Jim White variety (American Poster) are used to tell stories about loss, travel and longing.

Flodgren positions himself as an outsider who wants to belong, but does not quite know how. He should not worry about not fitting in. Going your own way can lead to a memorable musical statement. It is safe to step outside the safety of the Nicotine Bunker, not take the Modern Ages too seriously, and face the world on his own terms.

Freyr: Avalon

Swedish/Icelandic musician Freyr Flodgren is drifting towards piano driven triphop on Avalon, the new single of his Freyr project. He travels to the south of France with his loved one, and ends up in Marseille, apparently thinking that this harbour city might be the last stop before reaching the legendary island depicted in the Arthurian legend. Once more it turns out that the journey is more important than the destination.

Freyr: I'm Sorry

Swedish/Icelandic musician Freyr Flodgren has been in quite a few bands, sometimes at the same time, but a proper was not part of his resume yet. After a couple of singles his debut EP I'm Sorry serves his musical business card, going by stage name Freyr.

Quiet, intense and with a sense of permeating melancholy, he bears his soul, without mentioning the actual source by name. By doing so he taps into the universal feeling of sorrow that can be overwhelming after aa relationship has gone South or is on the brink of doing so. Using elements of folk and pop make it an intricate yet accessible outing of a man who can be certain that his uneasiness has turned into something memorable indeed.
