Elephant Stone: I Got A Pill

Canadian psychedelic raga band Elephant Stone throw a punch at the fake comfort offered by swallowing a tablet to get people's mind away from reality on their new single I Got A Pill. Demagogues love them, because people won't take notice of all the shit they are doing. When they realise what is happening, the com down from a bad trip will be hard to deal with.

It is another first taste from their new album ASHA, due for release on August 28th via Elephants On Parade/Little Cloud Records. It is available for pre-order here (vinyl, digital). The video was directed by Adam Traynor.

Elephant Stone: Fascists Killed Yer Rock 'N' Roll

Canadian psychedelic raga band Elephant Stone are not afraid to take a stand. After the release of the Everything Evil single earlier this year, they turn it up a notch with Fascists Killed Yer Rock 'N' Roll, proving that a distorted sitar can sounds as nasty as an electric guitar.

Elephant Stone: Back Into The Dream

Canadian psychedelic raga band Elephant Stone have been sharing an abundance of singles in the lead-up to the release of their new album Back Into The Dream. With the addition of the last pieces of puzzle it all comes together rather nicely. During their 15 years as a band they have stuck to their guns: creating kaleidoscopic songs wherein band leader Rishi Dhir explores his hopes and dreams, with Sci-Fi themes creeping in to paint a future without a Hollywood ending.

Back Into The Dream is a continuation of their previous output, but the band is always looking for new sounds beyond the melodic yet powerful psych-pop. Free jazz was an unlikely candidate to make the cut, but lo and behold, it works like a charm in bae, a bubbling track that is almost torn apart by dissonants and "shouting-in-a-bucket" vocals. Pilgrimage is a tale about travel, but if it is really happening is up to the listener to decide. The prog-infused The Imajinary, Nameless Everybody In The World mixes the sound of Genesis' Selling England by the Pound with Laurel Canyon-esque vocals. It is an open-ended album for open-minded listeners.

Melancholy reigns supreme in this slow song about humankind's incurable habit to make the same mistakes over and over again. Ending the song by repeating the title obviously was a no-brainerr. Canadian psychedelic raga band Elephant Stone have released The Spark, a track from their forthcoming new album Back into the Dream. The song is a kind of a reality check about what happens after the initial excitement of a relationship has started to wear off. It will never be the same again, but as long as there is a will to keep searching for a way to reignite things might be OK as well.

The dream could become a nightmare if someone does not wake him up.

Elephant Stone: Dawn, Day, Dusk

Canadian psychedelic raga band Elephant Stone have posted a visualizer for their new two-part composition Dawn, Day, Dusk. The short instrumental Godstar segues into The Imajinary, Nameless Everybody In The World, an adventurous and ambitious piece that is as close to prog and jazz as they ever got. Saxophone player Adam Kinner steals the show with an on-point solo.

Elephant Stone: "Hollow" animation

Canadian psychedelic raga band Elephant Stone have unveiled a animated video for the first side of their concept album Hollow. They used an orchestral re-interpretation of the tracks, which is a little bit over the top. The apocalypse of subsequent escape from planet Earth looks good in this one, thanks to the talents of director and animator Laurine Jousserand.

Elephant Stone: Le voyage de M. Lonely dans la lune

Canadian psychedelic raga band Elephant Stone choose to use the second language on their country for their new EP, Le voyage de M. Lonely dans la lune. It is a mini rock opera in four parts, telling the tale of a single man trying to survive amidst a catastrophe, holing up like a hermit and wondering where to go next.

Band leader Rishi Dhir's love for Sci-Fi is a guarantee for a consistent story arc, but he leaves plenty of space (no pun intended) for the listener's imagination. The main theme is rather bleak, but it is served in full-colour, with each band member adding to an intricate tapestry of sounds and licks.
