Darlia: "Beam Me Up" video

Blackpool garage rockers Darlia have made a video for their new single Beam Me Up. "Lead singer Nathan Day went through some pretty serious depression issues and with this song he found some sort of closure and is also able to poke fun at his problems, once again proving that making music is good for you."

Beam Me Up is released on Ignition Records.

Darlia: Beam Me Up

Blackpool rock band Darlia pay tribute to the sound of Oasis and The Kinks on their new single Beam Me Up. Slacker meets vaudeville. Tongue-in-cheek or dead serious? Both actually, with some pretty nifty call-and-response vocals. Lead singer Nathan Day went through some pretty serious depression issues and with this song he found some sort of closure and is also able to poke fun at his problems, once again proving that making music is good for you.

It will be released as a single on April 20th via B-Unique Records. The original was released in 2013 on the digital 45 Knock Knock. They have cleaned up the sound a bit in order to get some airplay. HCTF review of Petals.

February 19, 2015

Darlia: Petals

photo: Steve Gullick

Blackpool garage rock trio Darlia have rounded up their singles for their Petals mini album. Mixing grunge, Britpop and surprisingly gentle acoustic tracks they aim for the gut.

Natan Day, Dave Williams and Jack Bentham wear their influences on their sleeves. Like My Chemical Romance, Nirvana, Soundgarden and Oasis they are a band with an attitude. They won't go down in history as musical inventors, but they can cut it as a highly entertaining act who have succeeded to capture their on stage presence in the studio.

Petals will be released on February 23rd through B-Unique Records. Available on iTunes, Amazon and on CD from their website.

Tracks:
  1. Stars Are Aligned
  2. I've Never Been To Ohio
  3. Queen of Hearts (2015)
  4. Candyman
  5. Dear Diary
  6. Say Your Prayers
  7. Pandemonium (Acoustic)
  8. Candyman (Acoustic)

HCTF review of Pandemonium.

July 03, 2014

Darlia: Pandemonium

Blackpool rock trio Darlia are streaming Pandemonium, the B-side from their forthcoming new single Dear Diary. With a title like that, a slab of high energy mayhem would be in order, but it is rather mellow when compared to their other stuff. It shows that it is rough demo, and a rather flat sounding at that.

Dear Diary b/w Pandemonium will be released on 7" vinyl via B-Unique Records on July 7th. Digital through iTunes.

Live dates:
  • 07/12 2000 Trees Festival, Cheltenham, UK

HCTF review of Candyman.

April 11, 2014

Darlia: Candyman

Blackpool rock trio Darlia will release their new 3-track EP Candyman on April 14th. Slightly more garage rock than Knock Knock they put energy first. The stand-out track Blood Money sounds like an outtake from Frank Black's Teenager of the Year.

These guys don't stand around playing their songs, they attack them, pinning them to the floor. Keep turning it up until you find that it can't get any louder or the neighbours start banging on your door.

Darlia:
Natan Day: guitar, vocals
Dave Williams: bass
Jack Bentham: drums

Candyman is a self-released EP. Pre-order it from iTunes.

  • 04/16 The Pavilion (w/ The Orwells), London, UK

Darlia: Knock Knock

Blackpool rock trio Darlia have released a new limited edition 7" called Knock Knock. Queen of Hearts and Napalm have all the signature UK don't-fuck-with-me Britpop attitude, with a bit of grunge to give it an edge.

The single is released on Ignition 45s. A digital version drops October 28 with the extra track Choke On Bones.
