Damn Vandals: Done For Desire

London neo-glam rockers Damn Vandals took their time releasing a full-length. They unleashed a couple of singles and the Beautiful Mind EP and most of those previously tracks have ended up Done For Desire. Thankfully there is plenty of new stuff to cut your teeth on, with the Bowie-esque ca. Hunky Dory opener Revolution / Rehearsal, the rumbling and slightly menacing Kings of Never and the reverb heavy freak-out The Revenge Of Spider Toothy.

In keeping in style with their old school approach there will be a new single before the album hits the shop. Revolution / Rehearsal b/w Sex It Narcissus, a song that mixes the myths of Jesus and that Greek bloke who fell in love with himself.

Damn Vandals: The Beautiful Mind EP

Garage rockers Damn Vandals have released a new EP. The Beautiful Mind is filled with four raw borderline glam rock songs. The London band is still quite fond of old school echo, giving their songs a Seventies swagger that never gets old.

Stand-out track is He Pulls A Knife with a chugging back beat egging on the vocals and a lead guitar that will make Chris Isaac's skin crawl. Trouble With Jesus is a down-and-dirty rocker, with all the needles in the red. Recommended if you like the Buzzcocks, Pavement and early Roxy Music.

Damn Vandals: "Can't Go Dancing When You're Gone" b/w "Hey Little Bunny"

The Damn Vandals have made videos for their new single Can't Go Dancing When You're Gone b/w Hey Little Bunny. Graffiti, John Travolta, and a depressed stuffed mammal fallen on hard times (the latter track can downloaded for free from soundcloud).

Damn Vandals have once again created a heady mix of postpunk guitar, with a hint of Television in the coda of Can't Go Dancing When You're Gone, and vocals with London swagger.

London rockers Damn Vandals are releasing a new single on April 25th on their own label Sexy Beast. Bayonet has their signature laconic vocals with a bit Chris Isaac reverb drenched guitar. Think Jarvis Cocker meets the Pixies.

Damn Vandals: "This Amazing" b/w "Daddy Smokes a Cigarette"

London quartet Damn Vandals have a new single. This Amazing b/w Daddy Smokes a Cigarette brings back early Seventies glam rock with a hint of Bowie spiced with the "cooler-than-thou" attitude of Roxy Music.

This Amazing is pretty straight forward rock with a nervous guitar a la Television. The superior B-side Daddy Smokes a Cigarette is a mid-tempo rocker that would that could have been written by the New York Dolls or Lou Reed (if he would have got along with his father). It's a safe bet to assume that these guys like guitar players like Chris Spedding and Mick Ronson.
