Zeno Jones: Stonewater Music EP

Guitarist Zeno Jones, half of blues duo of Louisville, KY based duo Cold Beverage, recorded all the tracks of his Stonewater Music EP on December 5 last year. Setting up shop @ Al Fresco's Place, he laid all the songs down in one take, playing guitar, suitcase drum and hi-hat/tambourine. It is fuzzy and in-your-face, a throwback to the early days of electric Delta blues.

With his gravel-voiced delivery Jones sounds like a man who you don't want to piss off. Telling tales about having lots of whiskey, riding trains in the middle of the night and trying to walk with 16 tons of mud in his shoes, he plays up a storm that full bands will have a hard time to replicate.

Cold Beverage: Hot Wax

Guitarist Zeno Jones and drummer Rodney B. of Louisville, KY based duo Cold Beverage play stripped down, blues-drenched rock 'n' roll that is so rough that it will have the unitiated running for the hills. Hot Wax, their new album takes the approach of the Black Keys and The Sideshow Tragedy to the next level, making the distorted guitar howl like it was recorded in a runaway cement mixer, plus the drum fills are bouncing off the walls it is a miracle they are still standing. The needles are so deep in the red that a power outage is barely avoided.

They don't sing, they holler. Cold Beverage is adamant to leave no room for other things to worry about, except having a good time while they working hard to get the demons out of their system. If the neighbours don't come knocking on the door to complain, turn it up some more.
