Black Moon Book: Black Moon Book 3

Chicago based multi-instrumentalist Mark Lofgren (The Luck of Eden Hall, The Thin Cherries) is looking back on his life on the third album by his Black Moon Book: moving to another town, love, loss, booze, and trying to keep it together. All things considered he managed to stay afloat. The autobiographical tales are mostly served with a soft-spoken psychedelic mood, with carefully played guitars and synths playing catch.

The passing of time has caught him by suprise, but by capturing a few memorable moments he is able to relive them by pushing "play". And while it is highly personal, the themes are universal and will appeal to anyone who looks into a mirror searching for their younger version.

HCTF premiere - Black Moon Book: Ne'er Do Wells

Chicago based multi-instrumentalist Mark Lofgren (The Luck of Eden Hall, The Thin Cherries) sticks to an acoustic guitar as the main instrument for his new single Ne'er Do Wells by his Black Moon Book project. It fits the melancholic mood of the song like a glove, as he contemplates the pros and cons of living in a big city, with the rich making sure to keep the less fortunate at arm's length. Melody is king on this track and it bodes well as the forerunner for his forthcoming album Black Moon Book 3, due for release on May 3.

Black Moon Book: Black Moon Book 2

Chicago based multi-instrumentalist Mark Lofgren (The Luck of Eden Hall, The Thin Cherries) has released the second album by his Black Moon Book project, a meandering concept album of sorts, bookended by two songs of the two phases of the moon - Waxing Crescent and Waning Crescent. With synths and guitar taking turns at commandeering the spotlight Lofgren bares his soul about his uncertainties and confusion about relationships on top of a neo-psychedelic post-punk soundtrack.

Black Moon Book 2 is a sort of exorcism and therapy rolled into one. He wears his emotions on his sleeve, clinging to the one thing that will never let hem down: his ability to create soft-spoken, but strong music.

Chicago singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Mark Lofgren (The Luck of Eden Hall, The Thin Cherries) goes solo for the first time since the release of his The Past Perfect in 2014. Using the Black Moon Book moniker a new album will be released on June 12. Lead single You Are Just Not Alone is part bedroom pop and part psychedelic rock, a soft-spoken, comforting song for all the lonely souls.
