Hallelujah video:
Abigail Portner directed a spooky video for Hallelujah set to the Fragments version of the Leonard Cohen song. Nice touch using rain sounds to refer to Shakespeare quote on the cover of the album.

Mid 80s NYC, sitting in the audience, I heard Leonard Cohen perform a new song of his - dressed in full regalia, big band, backup singers, swirling arrangements -- but what I heard, was some of his most stark poetry, masked as an elegy. To my mind, I wanted to strip it down, expose the dark nerve center, the discomfort of a man alone with his bottled emotions...a piano, a poem...the yet-to-be-discovered gem that is Hallelujah. - John Cale, 2016

John Cale will re-imagine The Velvet Underground & Nico once again in Liverpool @ the North Liverpool Docks on May 26, 2017 to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the album. He performed in its entirety this year at the Philharmonie de Paris on April 3.
