Leeds based indie band Tulpa, named after an existence that does not really exist, have put out an album with upbeat rambling post-punk tracks about facing your inner demons and insecurities. Monster Of The Week is a celebration of the concise pop song: get to the point pretty damn fast and don't bother listeners with detours that might brake the spell.
Some distortion and feedback is totally fine - in fact they welcome it with open arms - but they never let it get in the way of the main melody. The band operates in a self-contained, almost childlike universe, wherein the normal rules of physics don't apply. Recommended if you like Jad Fair, The Breeders, The Sundays and The Primitives.
