The Wood Brothers: Line Those Pockets

Roots trio The Wood Brothers have released Line Those Pockets, a track from their new album, Heart Is The Hero, on April 14 via Honey Jar/Thirty Tigers. Bass player Chris Wood sheds some light on how the song was made:
"Like other songs on Heart Is The Hero, this one alludes to our common struggles and the hope that comes from connection and self-awareness. Nobody escapes the human condition, but the greatest relief might come in the form of helping others who are burdened rather than ourselves. We had these lyrics around for awhile without a musical home, but then Jano presented an idea that created the right tone and brought the song to life. My part was influenced by the great Cuban bass players Cachao Lopez and Orlando “Cachaito" Lopez. It’s an influence I normally don’t use with The Wood Brothers but it worked for the song, so we leaned into it."

The Wood Brothers: new album "Heart Is The Hero" in April

Roots trio The Wood Brothers will release their eighth studio album, Heart Is The Hero, on April 14 via Honey Jar/Thirty Tigers. The ten tracks were recorded on 16-track tape, the choice medium for capturing their kind of music. Oliver Wood explains:
The chorus of the album's title track says, 'the heart is the hero of every song.' By no means was it intentional, but much of the material we were writing for this record seemed to come full circle to the idea of trusting in your heart in matters that you can't control. Those words seemed to illustrate so much of what we were feeling—that heart and spirit guides us through this world. Even by recording completely analog, we had to commit to feeling the performances and have faith in what the three of us were creating together instead of trying to make things perfect by letting technology or overthinking things get in the way.

Roots trio extraordinaire The Wood Brothers have added nine West Coast dates to their tour, kicking off with a 2-night stand @ Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, CA (Jan 31 and Feb 2) Their eighth studio album is in the final stages of mixinmg and mastering, and should be ready for release in early 2023.

The Wood Brothers: "The Muse" 2LP reissue
Roots trio The Wood Brothers will reissue their 2014 album The Muse as a 2LP on March 5, 2021 via their own label Honey Jar Records. Widely considered as a high point in their discography the band recently played the album live in its entirety and that will be part of a webcast on their YouTube channel on December 18 that will also feature archioval footage from the recording sessions.
