Kim Ware and the Good Graces: Grand Epiphanies

Kim Ware

Country-tinged folk trio Kim Ware and the Good Graces sing about bad luck, ignored early warning signs, and other curve balls that life has thrown them on their Grand Epiphanies EP. The words of Mark Twain - "Good decisions come from experience. Experience comes from bad decisions" - come to mind.

Most mistakes are only made once, but there is always room for one more that hasn't been made yet. Kim Ware takes it in her stride, with a wry sense of humour and a bit of Schadenfreude when the other party picked the short straw for a chance.

Kim Ware and the Good Graces: Wish I Would've Missed You

Folk singer Kim Ware wrote a bittersweet love song, shortly after the holiday decorations were taken down. Wish I Would've Missed You has a hint of country in it, but also the grit of indie rock after her trio Kim Ware and the Good Graces was done with the recording @ Union Recording Co. in Gastonia NC.

The Good Graces: Close to the Sun

Atlanta, GA indie folk collective The Good Graces has only one permanent member: lead singer and guitarist Kim Ware. For her new album Close to the Sun she called in a few favours from her friends to help her out, but it's first and foremost her vision on dreamy folk rock with an edge.

Ware can switches moods at drop of a beat. She isn't afraid to speak up - the college rock anthem Standing in Line, is perfectly capable of channeling a Johnny Cash meets spaghetti Western (Parts > Sum) can be surprisingly gentle (I Don't Know Where to Start and Cold in California). Recommended if you like Belly, Throwing Muses and Amy Correia.

Close to the Sun will be released on vinyl (500 copies) on October 28 as a collaborative effort by Fort Lowell Records and PotLuck Foundation. Also available as a digital download.

Tracks:
  1. I Don't Know Where to Start
  2. Cold in California
  3. My Own Grace
  4. Under the Weather
  5. Something So Beautiful
  6. A Gain, Again
  7. Curb Appeal
  8. Shea
  9. Standing in Line
  10. Parts > Sum
  11. Before You Go
  12. (untitled)

  • 11/05 Tommy's Pub, harlotte NC (w/ Jphono1)
  • 11/06 (TBD), Asheville NC (w/ Jphono1)
