Puah: Due acca hho

Italian synth player Alessandro Pagani peddles a weird kind of ironic electro-pop on Due acca hho, the debut album by his one-man project Puah (Piccola UnitĂ  Anti Hi-fi). As for the keyboards he definitely makes the cut, but he comes up short when he tries he hand at singing. No twiddling and effects can save his voice from being flat, which is a shame because he has obviously plenty of interesting ideas.

Lo-fi and the dreaded AutoTune are strange bedfellows indeed: the former embraces limited possibilities, the latter aims to hide them. Ditch the vocals, and presto: an instrumental album that is quite good.
