Dakota Shakedown: Hurry up and Wait + Pasadena '68: Happy to be Next to You

In 2015 four musicians from Minneapolis from two different bands released a shared double-EP. waht made it special that both bands - Dakota Shakedown and Pasadena '68 consisted of the same members, but they switched instruments.

Now they are back with a new double A-side single: Hurry up and Wait (Dakota Shakedown) b/w Happy to be Next to You (Pasadena '68). The former comes close to country rock and the latter is a mix of Americana and indie rock. It's the little things that sets these two bands apart: guitar tone, timing, and the obvious one - the vocals. The bands are joined at the hip, but they look at different things. Four men, two bands: Pasadena '68, Dakota Shakedown release double-ep

Four Minneapolis based musicians playing musical chairs by being members of two like-minded bands: Pasadena '68 and Dakota Shakedown. Both acts can be labeled as indie rock, with Pasadena '68 leaning towards garage and Dakota Shakedown flying the power pop banner. After putting out a few feeler demos their first proper release is a self-titled double-EP that needs to be played loud during a road trip in classic convertible with the top down.

If writing catchy tunes was a crime, these guys would get arrested all the time. Recommended if you like The Replacements, Pavement, Teenage Fanclub and Big Star.

Pasadena '68: Year Of Constant Change

Minneapolis based power pop supergroup Pasadena '68 are sharing another demo. Year Of Constant Change is a rough-around-the-edges college radio friendly song that should get them wider recognition.

Nick Leet (High on Stress), Mike Hjelden (Standard Thompson), Elliot Hilton (Hart Lake Mystery) and Chad Wheeling (High on Stress) have found their groove: smart melodic rock with an attitude.

Minneapolis is home to a bunch of indie musicians who love smart garage rock. After High on Stress called it quits two of its former members did not have to look far to find like-minded souls to star a new band: Pasadena '68.

Nick Leet (High on Stress), Mike Hjelden (Standard Thompson), Elliot Hilton (Hart Lake Mystery) and Chad Wheeling (High on Stress) are sharing their first demo, Pardon the Mess, a catchy lo-fi tune that will be appreciated by fans of Big Star and The Replacements. With its two guitar front line it's perfect antidote after a bad day at work.
