PLNT9: Oribiter

LA based rock trio PLNT9 are ready for the next step with their first EP, Oribiter. The included tow of their previously released singles, On Your Own and Sunsuit, and added three brand tracks that hit hard.

Howling feedback will scare off the uninitiated before Harvest properly starts, while the heavy-handed psych rocker Wendigo and the pounding Yeti Sky will earn them a thumbs up from Soundgarden fans. The US West Coast has always been a fertile breeding ground for metal in all its guises and these guys are adamant to keep it alive with their own brand of crunchy loudness. Turn it up and make sure to roll down the windows when you blast it from your car stereo.

HCTF premiere - PLNT9: Sunsuit

LA based rock trio PLNT9 channel the grunge metal approach of Soundgarden on their new single, Sunsuit. Thye have build an old school all of sound and it's easy to picture them bringing the house down in front of an ample supply of Marshall stacks. Once again produced and mixed by Fox Fagan, a man whose ears help them to make it a bigger than life.

Sunsuit is a track from their forthcoming debut EP Orbiter.

HCTF premiere - PLNT9: On Your Own

LA based rock trio PLNT9 have been lying low for awhile, but now they are back and they come out swinging with a new single, On Your Own. It's an in-your-face rocker, shouting at a world that doesn't seem to care. This slice of bottled anger was produced and mixed by Fox Fagan, who receives an A+ for dynamics and separation.

On Your Own serves as a taster for their debut EP Orbiter, out on April 3.

PLNT9: Trauma Pulse

LA based rock trio PLNT9 keep it at with their new single Trauma Pulse, a hard-hitting song with a bit of prog thrown is as well. They allow themselves to play a towering composed instrumental part that deserves to be expanded into an extensive jam when performed live. Recommended if you like Godsticks.

LA based rock trio PLNT9 have made a video for their Who Knows single: "crunchy, grunge rock feel that spells energy in all-caps". The clip was filmed by Spaced Visuals. Video Concept & production: Dino Archon.

PLNT9: Meant to Run

At first it seems that LA based trio PLNT9 could be booked for speeding with their new single Meant to Run, but they slow down just enough to be considered as a contender for the fast, but not super fast, alternative rock niche. It's the first half of the song however that will get a thumbs up from the rawk crowd, who latched on to them after they released their previous single Who Knows. This one is bit more commercial and less hectic. It might get some airplay on AOR stations, provided they have the balls to spin a track from an unsigned band.

PLNT9: Who Knows

LA based trio PLNT9 channel Queen of the Stone Age on their new single Who Knows. Even faster than their previous one Let Loose it could have turned into a train wreck, but while they keep a firm grip on the proceedings, with producer Fox Fagan and Brian Lucey (mastering) helping them out to get a crunchy, grunge rock feel that spells energy in all-caps.

PLNT9: Let Loose

LA based trio PLNT9 try to capture the sound of Seventies classic rock with a healty amount of psych punk on their debut single Let Loose. It's an intense fast-paced song, with a few breather bars during the solo when they come close to math rock.

It's not that hard to name their influences, but they have managed to come with a nice hybrid. For a trio that has only been playing together for a year or so they sound tight and on point. Producer Fox Fagan steered clear from the dreaded brick walling, making it loud with a good ear for the dynamics.
