Kristóf Hajós & Bad Nomad: Here Comes The Rain Again

Dutch-Hungarian singer Kristóf Hajós and Bad Nomad teamed up for a slow, melancholic cover of the Eurythmics, classic Here Comes The Rain Again. They stripped down the song to its core, making it quite intense.

Hungarian indie crooner Kristóf Hajós has made a video for Future, a track from his new album 6:00PM: "The sense of displacement that was the major subject on his previous record Geography is still there, but it is superseded by the realisation that ageing might become an issue. As a lyricist he takes a scalpel to his worries, making tiny incisions to take a look at what is lurking beneath." The clip was made by Bemti.

Hungarian indie crooner Kristóf Hajós is not afraid to show his emotions on his new album 6:00PM. The sense of displacement that was the major subject on his previous record Geography is still there, but it is superseded by the realisation that ageing might become an issue. As a lyricist he takes a scalpel to his worries, making tiny incisions to take a look at what is lurking beneath.

Thankfully it is not all bad. His love life is far from over, although it would be nice if it was less complicated. And he managed to get legendary László Pásztor, of Neoton fame, to compose the music and play guitar on Goodbye Budapest, something he hadn't done for twenty years.

Kristóf Hajós: album release show in Amsterdam

Indie crooner Kristóf Hajós will present his new album 6:00PM on February 15 at Veembroederhof 100 in Amsterdam. He will be playing with Stefan Breuer (acoustic guitar), Sandor Szanyi (electric guitar) and Arno Breuer (kalimba, cajon). The event is organized by godown020. Nutella Versace acts as MC.

Kristóf Hajós has released another single from his forthcoming album 6:00PM. On Lazy Hearts he toys with the idea that it would be nice not to be such a caring person for a change, which would make his love life a little less complicated. Heartbreak would be breeze, right? The music was written by Stefan Breuer (The World of Dust), who came up with a relaxed, melancholic melody, tailor made for a slow dance as Hajós takes care of the words with an aloof disco-tinged delivery.

Hungarian singer Kristóf Hajós will release his new album 6:00PM on February via Tiny Room Records, once again diving into his mixed emotions about living in The Netherlands after being all over the place.

Positioning himself as your favourite queer indie crooner, he called in the help of Stefan Breuer (The World of Dust, Combo Qazam,), who wrote most of the music, Jack Kenney (bass, backing vocals, guitars) and Sandor Szanyi (lead guitars). The biggest coup is getting László Pásztor, of Neoton fame, out of retirement to play guitar on lead single Goodbye Budapest.

Hungarian singer Kristóf Hajós has some mixed emotions as he waiting for this flight to take him back to the Netherlands on his new single Goodbye Budapest. The music was written by László Pásztor of Neoton fame, who also came out of retirement to play a jangling guitar on top of the soft-spoken keyboards. Hajós also shared version in his mother tongue.

Hungarian singer Kristóf Hajós sings about feeling at home and being at a loss simultaneously on his new album Geography. Now based in Amsterdam he has been all over the place and finding his bearings after yet another move can be time consuming and nerve wrecking. Resorting to build one's own Imaginary World can offer some solace and dreaming of exploring outerspace (Intergalactic) might work as well. Another version of There Are No Mountains was previously released as a single, but the new. slightly shorter version about living in a flat country works even better.

He sings softly, forcing the listener to hang unto each word - imagine Leonard Cohen using an upper register that comes to crooning. With like-minded Dutch musician Stefan Breuer once again pitching in with tailormade songs for him to sing solo - Princess - and as a duet - Plenty of Light - it looks that Hajós is not going anywhere else soon. He is a very welcome addition to the lo-fi folk underground in the Netherlands.

Kristóf Hajós: There Are No Mountains b/w Renegades

Hungarian singer Kristóf Hajós is a rocker disguised as a crooner (or vice versa). Best known as the singer of The Unbending Trees he now goes solo with songs about finding his bearings again, after moving to Amsterdam. On his new single There Are No Mountains he deals with a leaving in a flat country (There Are No Mountains) and feeling guilty for those he left behind (Renegades).

On the A-side - a slow moving, melancholic one take wonder recorded @ The Abbey Road Institute in Amsterdam - he is accompanied by his new live band The Bitterfly Collective. Stefan Breuer (The World of Dust) wrote and played the music on the B-side, which is a first for him - he never wrote for another musician before. He brought his signature lo-fi folk idiom and then took a backseat for Hajós' vocals to take center stage.
