Cover Me: I Know What It's Like

Disq, a powwr pop quintet from Madison, Wisconsin, had planned to throw in a cover of Jeff Tweedy's I Know What It's Like as a treat during their live shows promoting their new album Collector. The tour fell through, but they want ahead and record it anyway. It's a bit more poppy than the original, with a few extras thrown in for good measure.

I Know What It's Like is a self-released single. Buy it from their website/

The Tape Op Podcast: Jeff Tweedy

Tape Op sat down with Jeff Tweedy for their podcast series. He was interviewed by Larry Crane:

I’ve been in studios and rooms all over the world. I’ve seen where The Beatles spent hours creating masterpieces. I’ve been in the room where Buddy Holly’s hits were made. I’ve stood at the mics that Al Green used on so many songs. Many of these places have something special going on – maybe those creative vibes soaked into the walls – but almost all of them require the musicians to cart their instruments and gear in, as well as to spend some time sorting out and setting it up. And, by virtue of the typical layout, many professional studios leave the musicians and engineers in isolation from each other, especially during overdub sessions. In contrast Wilco’s studio, The Loft, is a third-floor warehouse practice space turned studio, where Jeff Tweedy and his band have created a musician’s dream. Racks of drums and other instruments fill the space, with the control room area taking up the front part of the building. There’s even a kitchen/dining spot, a tech bench for repairs, and various little hideaways scattered all around the 5000 square foot space.

Jeff Tweedy: "Warmer" for Record Store Day

Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy will release ten previously unavailable studio recordings on Warmer for Record Store day. It's a companion for his latest solo album Warm.

“At some point I separated the songs from the WARM/WARMER session into two records with individual character, but still tried to keep the overall tone and texture of the combined session consistent,” Tweedy stated. “In a lot of ways these two records could have been released as a double LP. WARMER means as much to me as WARM and might just as easily have been released as the first record of the pair.

JamBase: the Jeff Tweedy Interview

JamBase has an interview with Jeff Tweedy, the main man of Wilco:

I don't think that the creative process has ever been something that people have been very good at simplifying and explaining, myself included. I could say a lot of things have changed, and at the same time, I think it's also really hard for people to get it into their heads sometimes that most of the stuff I created in my life - even though I'm sober now and have achieved some greater sense of clarity for myself - I think most of the music and everything I've contributed, I would have to argue that the majority of it was created with that same type of clarity. It wasn't all done in some kind of pursuit of oblivion.
