Hot Lobby: Snake Charmer

Bristol based quartet Hot Lobby have added a bit of hiphop to their eclectic musical palette, which blends in with the overall sad soulful mood of their new single Snake Charmer. Falling for the wrong person is only human, thinking that it will work out is an illusion, and when the shit hit the fan there will be the tears and a sense of longing and "what if" that can keep lingering for quite some time.

This band somehow manages to mix a shitload of genres each and every time - and different ones as the track seems to need it - without it becoming a mess. It will baffle clueless A&R folk who will mumble something about not knowing how to market it, while the dance crowd and music geeks are high-fiving each other.

Hot Lobby: Clarissa’s Theme b/w Wanderer

Bristol based quartet Hot Lobby love to mix things up. Their debut single Acid Rain had elements of soul, grunge, ska jazz and now they try hand at bossa nova, soul and early 70s R&B for follow-up Clarissa’s Theme. B-side Wanderer comes close to disco, but there is just enough weirdness in it to confuse the dancers.

Hot Lobby: Acid Rain b/w Jump

Ever heard of grunge-soul? Or disco-metal? No wonder, because those genres did not exist until Bristol based quartet Hot Lobby unleashed their debut single Acid Rain. So, what the Hell do they sound like? Imagine Living Colour and the Red Hot Cili Peppers having a ball with the Specials, with a few jazz cats barging in to get the party to the next level. B-side Jump is no slough either, with a nifty rhythm shifts thrown in as added bonus.
