HCTF's Guilty Pleasures - Cindy & Bert: Der Hund von Baskerville

In 1971 German schlager vocal duo Cindy & Bert released their really weird cover of Black Sabbath's Paranoid, with brand new lyrics in their native tongue: Der Hund von Baskerville. They did a really bad lip sync performance on a TV show, surrounded by rhythmically challenged dancers. The single has become a collector's item.

HCTF's Guilty Pleasures: Van Halen - You Really Got Me

Watch the Van Halen promo video for You Really Got Me. Their take on the Kinks classic was over the top and came with quite possibly way too many notes by Eddie van Halen, but it works. It got them tons of airplay in 1978 and made their self-titled debut album million seller.

HCTF's Guilty Pleasures: The Primitives - Crash

Watch The Primitives lip-syncing their way through Crash on long running Dutch TV show TopPop. They named themselves after the Ersatz band (consisting of Tony Conrad, Lou Reed, Walter de Maria and John Cale) that was put together to try to cash in on the Lou Reed song The Ostrich in 1964 and 1965.

The Primitives called it quits in 1992 and reformed in 2009. Crash was included on the soundtrack of a couple of rather terrible movies.
