False Heads: Slease

London garage punk rock trio False Heads have released the first taste from their upcoming full-length. Slease touches all the bases. Energy, anger sexual innuendo, and all the other things gentlemen are likely to discuss. Why they labeled this as "reggae" on Soundcloud is rather odd.

Slease is released via These Bloody Thieves Records / Ditto Records. The video was directed by Brigi Poti-Szaszfai.

False Heads: Comfort Consumption

photo: Gregory Hesse-Wagner

London garage punk rock trio False Heads slow down a bit on their new single Comfort Consumption. They had trouble fitting in all the syllables, messing up the metre on a couple of occasions, but as a first foray into slower songs it is not half bad.

Comfort Consumption is a track from their debut EP Gutter Press. The EP can be streamed in full on Soundcloud.

False Heads: All Eyes

London garage punk rock trio False Heads embrace the quiet-loud-quiet approach of the Pixies on All Eyes, their best sounding release so far. The dynamics are crisp and the vocals aren't buried in the mix. Why the band themselves considered it as a the B-side for their latest single Weigh In is rather odd. That should have been the other way round.

False Heads:
Luke Griffiths: vocals, guitar
Barney Nash: drums
Jake Elliott: bass

All Eyes is released thru 25 Hour Convenience Store. Release date: October 7th.

False Heads: Weigh In

London garage punk rock trio False Heads keep churning out high energy lo-fi singles. Their latest, Weigh In, packs the punch of Queens of the Stone Age plus an instantly hummamble vocal line. After a false ending (no pun intended) they return for a few very loud extra bars, tapping into their reserves in order to go with a bang.

False Heads:
Luke Griffiths: vocals, guitar
Barney Nash: drums
Jake Elliott: bass

Weigh In is released thru 25 Hour Convenience Store. Release date: October 7th.

False Heads: Thick Skin

London garage punk rock trio False Heads got rave reviews from Iggy Pop and former Ramones' manager Danny Fields, but so far they have failed to be embraced by the general public. Their latest single Thick Skin packs even more anger - note the hectic drumming.

Maybe they are not fashionable or cute enough to gain wider recognition. They will to settle for remaining a cult favourite for a little while longer.

False Heads:
Luke Griffiths: vocals, guitar
Barney Nash: drums
Jake Elliott: bass

Thick Skin will be released thru 25 Hour Convenience Store. Release date: July 1st.

False Heads: Steal And Cheat

London garage punk rock trio False Heads got some hard-earned recognition by being signed by Gary Powell's (The Libertines) label 25 Hour Convenience Store. Their previous singles and EPs made the niche playlists of Auntie Beeb and were mentioned quite favourably in the UK music magazines. All they need now is a song that can get 'em out of the bars and on to the stages of the club circuit.

They are at the forefront of the quiet-loud resurgence and their latest single Steal And Cheat is a boisterous anthem that comes howling from the speakers. Think the Pixies energy mixed with London bravado and fuck-it-all reckless abandon. This is the kind of stuff you want to hear after your team has lost an important match.

False Heads: Fall Around

UK quiet-loud trio False Heads pick up the baton that was dropped by the Pixies with their energetic new single Fall Around. Trashy, fuzzy and devil-may-care vocals. They bring back late Eighties indie rock with a vengeance. It's the forerunner for their new Tunnel Vision EP (out on July 28th via Hi4Head Records).

False Heads:
Luke Griffiths: vocals, guitar
Mop Head: bass, backing vocals, drums
Jake Elliott: bass

  • 07/23 Brighton @ Green Door Store
