Dark post-punk quintet FEHM are back with a new single: Scarborough Warning starts off deceptively joyful with an upbeat synth part before slowing way to Cure-alike guitar excursions and singer Paul Riddle's tale about imminent doom. The historical attack on the castle of Scarborough during the English Civil War is captured from the perspective of the crew on a ship going down. Recommended if you like Depeche Mode and English history.
Dark post-punk quintet FEHM paint a bleak future for mankind on their new single Human Age. This Lees band play synth-heavy Eighties music with harrowing vocals on top. The Leeds based band makes The Cure and the Cocteau twins sound overtly optimistic. Depressing with a likeable backbeat that belies the somber lyrics. Post truth they call it and that's an adequate description for a world where ignorants label undeniable facts as fake news.
Dark post-punk about urban decay in the UK. Leeds band FEHM paint a monochrome world on Hand To Mouth, a track from their forthcoming EP Animal Skin. Pushed forward by a bass straight out of Sisters of Mercy songbook lead singer Paul Riddle goes on about the environment and unemployment. Maggie Thatcher would have hated them.
