Electric Pets: Kowtow!

Derby based rock band Electric Pets have captured the ups and downs in a relationship on their new single Kowtow!. Taking cues from both 60s pop and modern day indie, the track mirrors the mood swings of the protagonist, sometimes shimmering in a corner, loud and defiant the next. Singer Emma Buckley did an ace job, projecting both emotions without missing a beat.

Electric Pets: Out Of Nowhere

Derby based rockers Electric Pets channel the sound of the surf-infused Tex-Mex Spaghetti Western scores that were all the rage in the Sixties on their new single Out Of Nowhere. Bass player and composer Peter Darrington acted as the musical director for this one. They nailed the jangling guitars and singer Emma Buckley does a fine job with a twangy country-esque lead vocal. Session trumpet player Josh Short aced his solo, completing the band's idea for outdoing the Americans on their own turf by way of Italian movie soundtracks.

Electric Pets: Then We Kissed

Derby based rockers Electric Pets snatched a bit of the Peter Gunn theme for their new single Then We Kissed, but the fuzz and the hooks are all theirs. Guitarist Phill Wagg wrote in the Nineties as a cool alternative for wedding vows and he can still stand behind them. It goes to show that a bit of well-written bravado goes a long way.

It is about chasing your dreams and not taking no for an answer. Anything is possible if you realize that the largest land animal on Earth can enjoy splashing around in the water, without the risk of drowning".

Electric Pets: Elephants Can Swim

Electric Pets are maxing out their guitar pedals on their new single Elephants Can Swim, a hard-hitting, rocking blues excursion. It is about chasing your dreams and not taking no for an answer. Anything is possible if you realize that the largest land animal on Earth can enjoy splashing around in the water, without the risk of drowning. It is the first of a series of singles. The Derby based quartet are working on their debut full-length that will see the light of day in 2024.

Electric Pets: first show in London

English quartet Electric Pets have announced their first show in London. They will play @ West Hampstead Arts Club on November 18. Tickets are available here. Their latest single Show will definitely be part of the setlist: "Swinging London is still alive in Derby and as the British are in dire need for some consolation, so looking back at their glorious past offers a very welcome form of escape".
