Brighton based shoegaze trio Ciel have shared a video for So Scared, a track from their new EP Make It Better: "Hiding behind a wall of fuzz gives them some kind of false safety, but they are fully aware they have to show themselves eventually. (...) With these four crunchy happy-sad bangers they proof that rambling garage power trios have a bright future. Plus it will offer some solace as well pointers to anyone who has eyes on a prospective signifant other". The clip was directed, shot and edited by Craig Murray.

Ciel: Make It Better
Brighton based shoegaze trio Ciel tackle the tried-and-true subject of making a move with a person they want to get close to on their Make It Better. Hiding behind a wall of fuzz gives them some kind of false safety, but they are fully aware they have to show themselves eventually. Singer Michelle Hindriks isn't afraid to do so. She connected with her future band mates via a Facebook group, while she was living in the Netherlands. Her leap of faith as the front woman did get noticed by the folks at Auntie Beeb pretty quickly.

Ciel: Back To The Feeling
Brighton based trio Ciel keep their streak of passive-aggressive love songs going with their new single Back To The Feeling, discussing getting older and not being able to enjoy the nightlife as much as they used to. Mixing shoegaze and goth, singer and bass player Michelle Hindriks takes charge of the construction of a wall of sound with Jorge Bela Jimenez on guitar and Tim Spencer on drums.

Ciel: Baby Don’t You Know
Brighton based trio Ciel serve up another fuzzy garage rock meets bubblegum pop single. Baby Don’t You Know is a song about a girl waiting for her lover to arrive, who is out all night, painting the town. Somehow she manages to contain her anger, but it is obvious that the rogue significant other is reaching the end of her patience.
They have signed with Jazz Life, the indie label founded by the Blood Red Shoes. Their debut EP Not In The Sun, Nor In The Dark will be released in October.

Ciel: Fine Everything
Brighton based shoegaze trio Ciel go for a rougher, distorted sound on their new single, Fine Everything. As per usual for the band it is a double-edged sword: a damn catchy tune about something that is about to change dramatically. Strong emotions are bubbling just under the surface, now that adulthood and responsibilities can no longer be held off. Casual listeners will be able to ignore all that and dance the night away. The video was made by Jay Bartlett.

Ciel: Never Alone Again
Brighton based trio Ciel go at in the deep end with Never Alone Again, with highly personal song written by singer Michelle Hindriks. Their blend of deceptive bubblegum pop and serious shoegaze is the kind of smart emo stuff that can sneak into happy Summer playlists of those who fail to take note of the words.

Ciel: Pretty Face
Brighton based shoegaze trio Ciel put an end to a love affair on their Pretty Face, letting the person on the receiving end walk away with some dignity. Nice touch to throw in a bit of noise near the end to make the hurt a little more palpable. Recommended if you like The Beautiful South and the Sundays.
