After a hiatus roots rockers Backyard Tire Fire returned to the stage in 2010 for a couple of shows. With original members Edward David Anderson and Matt Anderson in the line-up the music hasn't that much: melodic with a hint of country. The new single Alejandro Escovedo, inspired a rather weird meeting with the singer-guitarist (spoiler: it was in a dream), has a healthy dose of classic rock inspired guitar licks. Guest musician Adam Gardner is on board to add a couple of well-placed organ flourishes.

Backyard Tire Fire: The Places We Lived

Backyard Tire Fire are into rootsy rhythm rock music. This trio from Bloomington, Illinois, have a knack for mixing smooth melody lines with left-field riffs, meandering bass lines and counterpart drum patterns. They released the free Sick of Debt EP in March. The new album The Places We Lived needs only about one minute to convince the listener that is a "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" kinda album.
Standout cuts are the title track, Welcome To The Factory, about a man stuck in a dead end job, and How In The Hell Did You Get Back Here?, a rocker that will no doubt be used quite often as a live encore.
Backyard Tire Fire:
Matt Anderson: bass, vocals
Tim Kramp: drums, percussion
Edward Anderson: vocals, guitars, keys, harmonica
The Places We Lived is released on Hyena Records.

Backyard Tire Fire: "Sick of Debt" EP free download
Don't you love free music, you freeloading hippie? Backyard Tire Fire has a six track EP called Sick of Debt for free. It's acoustic, it's twang, and it's good.
"We loaded into Oxide Lounge in Bloomington, IL on a cold December afternoon (12.17.07) to record a healthy dose of some acoustic Tire Fire twang. There had always been talk of sitting down in the same room and doing a stripped down recording and we finally found the time to do it! Some of these songs are favorites that have been around for years and never found a place on an album, while others were written only weeks before. All of the tunes feature our good friend Jerry "Muttonhead" Erickson on either dobro or pedal steel guitar and were recorded live with minimal overdubs. The result is a raw collection of some of our finest acoustic material that we decided to make available for FREE DOWNLOAD. Please enjoy and pass it around."
