American singer-songwriter Danny Kiranos knows how to tell a tale when slips into his Amigo the Devil character. Once Upon a Time at Texaco Pt. 1 is about a man robbing a gas station, turning it into a hostage situation as he challenges the clerk to sing The Sounds of Silence. Things are on the brink of going South in a really bad way, before he tries to make his exit and make it to the Mexican border to stay out of the hands of the authorities. And all the while a guitar and banjo are clamouring for the best place in the spotlights. The music was obviously influenced by Nick Cave's The Curse of Millhaven, but stealing a bit when you sing about a crime is part of the fun.

American singer-songwriter Danny Kiranos, who goes by the stage name Amigo the Devil, goes in at the deep end on his new single Cannibal Within, a banjo-driven song about death, addiction, depression and fentanyl.

It is pretty dark, but he can be lighthearted about it too - "Turns out I am depressed. They say I just use joy and jokes to avoid the realisation There is a solution for that. Turn to the radio and cock it back. I just don't want to blow my brains out to Hotel California".

American singer-songwriter Danny Kiranos, who goes by the stage name Amigo the Devil, has the knack to sing about dark subjects like hate, suicide and depression, but somehow make it entertaining. He is a folkie first, but there is quite a bit of rock and vaudeville in there as well. He is a natural storyteller with a gruff voice, who can turn a music venue into a speakeasy where the clientele has the courtesy to shut up to hang on to his every word.
