Power pop multi-instrumentalist Bruce Moody is an incurable optimist, who is adamant to keep a sunny outlook on life, even when his beloved USA is caught in the midst of a shit storm of epic proportions. The songs on his new album Keep Showing Up! are about love in all its guises - including on about his teenage crush Nastassja Kinski - and people who look after each other and raise their voices in a non-violent, polite way to point out the things that they feel are wrong.
He is adamant about finding the switch to turn on the light and lift the darkness. Naive? Maybe, but trying to find solace through beauty and music has not hurt anyone and it keeps him sane in the process. Gently bopping along to his easy-on-the-ears melodies and stacked vocals may be just what the doctor ordered just now. The only song that is a bit out of place sonically is the inclusion of Record Deal, a song he recorded with his band Walkee Talkee in 1982. That piece of nostalgia would have fitted better on a stand-alone release.
Keep Showing Up! is a self-released album. Buy it from his website.
