The core of Hypothetical Bluegrass Solution is a trio, but sometimes they can be a quintet or downsize to a duo. It is also one of the many bands that Jon Hickam is a member of - he must have lost count by now, but that did not stop him to pen six songs with Kane Hollins, a quick draw on the banjo, for their debut EP, Peasants Forever. Bass player Max Heepke provides a rollicking and rock solid bottom end, a safety net for the other two when they indulge into upbeat good-time mayhem.
Bluegrass as a genre hasn't evolved much since the '40s - using the off beat but no drums, acoustic instruments and lyrics about life in the sticks, petty crimes, and the fairer sex pretty much covers it all. To add something new to that is quite a challenge - audiences tend not to be open that anyway, but skirting the outside borders of this music give this trio enough leeway for people to sit up and take notice, and flocking to dance floor about halfway the first song.
