English indie pop singer Nell Davies released a bunch of quirky singles in 2022. They were a joy to listen to, but she decided she should study the inner workings of music a bit more before making the next step. Fast forward to 2025 and six endearing tunes with a bite see the light of day on her The End of the World or Whatever EP.
Hitting the books has not taken the edge out of her craft and her wit is in full swing too, thankfully. What has changed a bit, are the arrangements and going for a fuller sound while she was at it. The basics were recorded in her old pigsty in West Penwith, after which the tweaking and smoother things were taken care of at StudiOwz in Pembrokeshire.
Part riot girrrl, part pop artist, Nell Davies attacks her material with a hammer and a smile. Look no further when in need of a song telling people to fuck off. This kind of ramshackle catchiness is irresistible.
Nell Davies: vocals, guitar
Tim Howarth: guitar, bass
Jack Beddis: drums on 2, 4 and 5
Tom Sinnett: bass guitar on 1, 2, 4 and 5
Kurt Phillips: drums on 1
