Dutch folk singer Ismena enters her safe space after a long day on her new single Be My Water. The gentle piano and sprinklings of synths are the perfect accompaniment for her dreamy vocals, with drummer Daan Wopereis adding choice fills. She is her own backing vocalist, which enabled her to sneak in a bit of call-and-response.
She can't believe her luck about having such a significant other: "Can I ask once again? // I just need to hear // You say that you'll be there // And you will". It is the lead single for her forthcoming new album Please Don't Ask Me how I've Been.
