Not making a choice is also choice. NYC-based filmmaker, songwriter, playwright, actor, and independent musician Jordan Galland has been juggling his various options of making a living, but adding another album to his small but rather good back catalogue was on the backburner for many years. For one thing, becoming a father derailed any plans for further exploration of that field, but lo and behold: he is back with the tongue-in-cheek titled new full-length No Rockstars. Galland is fully aware that he has been catering to a niche in the past and the chances that it will change are, well, zero.
He looked in the mirror, shrugged, and went to work on a collection of vignettes that are on the fence between smart pop and indie rock. He has taking a scalpel to his current life, cut out all the bullshit, and ended up with a bunch of carefully crafted songs. His sense of humour ensures that he is quite content about where he is right now: trying to be a father of a girl. Raising her means that he had reshuffle his priorities, but once he had the diapers thing under control, music made a comeback with a vengeance. His dedicated followers will welcome him back with open arms.
