Swedish psych pop singer Miynt likes to wrap her song in atmospheric textures. On her new album Rain Money Dogs she combines shoegaze and lo-fi bedroom pop to create a dreamy version of the Breeders during their Pod phase. Being a multi-instrumentalist enable her to follow her own vision, building her songs from the ground up.
The recording sessions helped her to get a grip on her feelings as she was going through some shit in a relationship, with Stranglers and Something In The Way You Move acting as two sides from the coin. It allowed her to look at things from a distance, as she leafed through a diary set to music.
Rain Money Dogs is released on B3SCI Records (vinyl, digital).

Love "Blu-Ray Land", it reminds me of both Courtney Barnett and "Coffee-and-TV" era Blur.
ReplyDelete"Moneydog" reminds me of The Beatles' "Don't Let Me Down", a bit of Beck, and all of the Unknown Mortal Orchestra's first album, "II".
ReplyDeleteAnd now you've gone all Super Furry Animals on me! Damn, I think I have found a new favourite artist! Welcome, Miynt! You even have my name already haha!
