Brooklyn duo The Last Royals picked up some publicity covering OMD, Prince and EMF. With their electro-pop sound,, it comes as no surprise that their self-titled EP contains five mainstream songs and a superfluous remix. Innocent and mostly harmless it could have used a producer who put his feet down steering them away from the overused sound effects.
The best track, Come Take My Hand, is labeled as a demo, sounding fresh and alive. Rub away the gloss and let the music itself do the talking. Their compositional skills deserve to be heard.
