Marco Z, an indie country folk pop singer from Hasselt, Belgium has just released his I'm A Bird EP. His songs deal with heartbreak (My Ears) and regained freedom in the title track. His acoustic cover of the Holland-Doziet-Holland song This Old Heart Of Mine (a big hit for the Isley Brothers in 1966) sits comfortably among his own songs.
Marco Z sounds like a lo-fi cross between Paul Simon and Arlo Guthrie. With this EP he joins the ranks of all the interesting music that is begin released in Belgium lately. The standout track Nothing In My Heart has all the trappings of a becoming a real moneymaker if he is smart and doesn't sign away his publishing.
