Girl in a Coma: Adventures in Coverland

San Antonio trio Girl in a Coma released a three part series of 7 inch singles with covers earlier this year. With a few new tracks thrown in for good measure the songs have been collected for a CD. Adventures in Coverland has a few popular favorites and some dark horses like Selena's Si Una Vez and As The World Falls Down, a lesser known David Bowie track.

Girl in a Coma is good old garage rock outfit with an inkling for Sixties guitar and Doo-wop vocals. With a few in-the-know inside jokes - the drums at the start of Come On, Let's Go sounds an awful lot like the Ramones' Blitzkrieg Bop - this collection can kick start a party that fails to get off the ground. Wonder if Lou Reed will come down on them to prevent them from playing Femme Fatale. If Stephen Stills doesn't like their take on For What It’s Worth, Neil Young surely will.
