Lotus: Escaping Sargasso Sea

Lotus is one those bands who create a following by word-of-mouth. Playing meandering lengthy songs without any vocals won't get you much airplay, but the jam bands crowd will discover you when you keep playing live. If you are any good, that is.

This band from Philadelphia can play like a ten-handed monster and their latest album, the 2CD Escaping Sargasso Sea captures them live during their Fall 2006 tour. They slip into genres with ease, from electronic dance tunes to jazzy post-rock goodness. If you thought that progressive rock music died in the late seventies, picking up this album will set the record straight.
