cruush: Rupert Giles

Manchester neo-shoegaze quartet cruush have come up with a new single, Rupert Giles, inspired by a character from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer tv series. Oddly enough the band were on a Neil Young - Brownhorse - Van Halen listening binge when they pieced it together, but, safe for the quiet intensity, none of that spilled over to the finished track. It does not rock as such, but can't be stopped either. The video was filmed and edited by Zack Arlo.

cruush: Nice Things Now, All The Time

Manchester neo-shoegaze quartet cruush are punching holes in empty promises and false advertising on their new EP Nice Things Now, All The Time. They take it slow and slightly muffled, which may lead to missing the quite funny, self-deprecating lyrics during the first listen. With wall-to-wall guitars and a pondering rhythm section, the inner tension of trying to make the most of it with empty pockets is almost palpable.

The sound of the late Eigthies and early Nineties is fashionable again, with Old Blightly in the midst of yet another economic crisis again. The Tories are wearing sneakers now, but their improved dress sense can't hide the fact that things are only getting worse.

cruush: As She Grows

Manchester neo-shoegaze quartet cruush have stacked layer upon layer on their new single As She Grows. Singer Amber Warren rose to the occasion when she had to write the words in such a way that they would fit within the rather unusual time signature. Seh looks back at her younger self, when she thought that fairies were real. The track ends rather abruptly, as if she was suddenly thrown out her dream world to face reality. cruush: Features

Manchester neo-shoegaze quartet cruush have added a bit of noise to Features, a song about mental health issues that started out as a solo piece by singer Amber Warren. The music never gets in the way of her poignant message. She wrote it before she enrolled into university, but the lyrics are very mature indeed. The video was made by Nespy5euro & Debora Panaccoine.

cruush: Sombre by the Weekend

Manchester neo-shoegaze quartet cruush take a swipe at the nightlife in their hometown with their new single Sombre by the Weekend. Workdays suck and the prospect of spending some well-deserved time off with a lover, getting plastered, laid or whatever, turns out to be as false as a promise by the Tories. Singer Amber Warren can project a mix of ennui and anger, with guitarist Arthur Boyd unleashing his inner Johnny Marr in full-on psychedelic mode. The video was filmed and edited by Luke Hallett.
